I'm coming to Brisbane next week and want to know what there is to do there as someone who's never been in a big city

I'm a single parent of a baby, age 40. I'm on parental leave, but as the time comes closer to returning to work, I want to stay home, at least for a few years. I spent so much time building my career, but can't imagine missing this time with my son.
I work at Big Tech, and have been with the same company for many years. Annual compensation is about $650k. I also had a couple of lucky windfalls over the years. I know that if I take a major career break, it could be difficult or impossible to go back at the same level, so I'm thinking of this (from a financial perspective) as FIRE, though I might go back to some form of work in the future.
Here's the numbers:
Taxable investments: $4.6M
Retirement: $1.1M
Equity in primary residence: $1M ($750k mortgage)
Partially-funded 529 for my son
I'm estimating annual spend at about $150k, but there are some unknowns. We don't live a lavish lifestyle at all. The mortgage, health insurance, and childcare are the biggest expenses. If I stay home, we would need some childcare (to give me an occasional break), but not full-time. I expect to pay for private preschool, but to use public K-12. I could pay off the mortgage, but the interest rate is low.
We currently live in a VHCOL city, but if I have a hard time re-entering the workforce later (or don't want to), we could move to a MCOL city closer to my sibling. I could buy a suitable house there for about $500k, but would likely need to pay for private school.
I have two questions:
1) Is there anything else I should consider from a financial perspective here? (I'm not looking for feedback on whether being a SAHP is the right choice from a personal perspective.)
2) Is there a type of professional I could pay (by the hour) to discuss the feasibility, and also to develop a cash flow strategy?

I’ll try to keep this not so long. I’m a disabled veteran, with custody of my three nieces I received the first same sex divorce in the state I was living in a few weeks after it became 50 states legal. I haven’t dated and hadn’t been intimate with anyone since ( almost 8 years). I’ve over the last 20 months been in treatment and recovery for alcoholism, combat ptsd, and trauma from a sexual assault. During that time I started chatting with an acquaintance, that had always caught my eye. I’ve been doing everything and then some to right some wrongs (DWI x2) and finally got my license back. I didn’t know he had feelings for me and was waiting for my recovery and legal issues to come to fruition. Finally I’m free to roam, and mingle, our first time to actually hang out was for his birthday, the following week we had lunch and an unexpected cuddle, fast forward a week and we spent an amazing night together, recovery requires rigid honesty and he knows about my past, a few hours in the hot tub, an hour laying on the floor talking, a shared shower, bedtime, he is extremely sweet and patient, lots of cuddling and kissing and my nerves are all over the place my body just couldn’t rise to the occasion. He said he understood and that it’s just my nerves. I was thrilled to just please him and thoroughly enjoyed it. Morning kisses, eggs and leftover birthday cake for breakfast, me on my way home him finishing his last week at his job. Unfortunately he is transferring to my favorite city 2000 miles away for his dream job, and I’m absolutely crushed. I’m so happy for him, and yet totally lost because I feel like life has betrayed me, I opened up and allowed myself to actually feel emotions for the first time in years and damn if it isn’t taking the one I want away. To top it off he’s been very very quiet since, I pray it’s just he’s dealing with emotions too as well as the stress of an upcoming cross country move. Any thoughts or advice. He is probably the most beautiful man I’ve honestly ever known both physically and mentally. Thanks y’all.

i have a group of friends, we were classmates on the first year at my college (i just named them A, B, C, D, E). We get along pretty well even though C, D, E were transferred to different class on the second year but we still remain close and im still the same class as A and B. We've been to a trip together and hang out like frequently outside of college even though we didnt live in the same city. So i've just finished college like 3-4 days ago and to be parted from them is so hard for me. Friends are like everything to me, i would die for them. This happens yesterday, my friend A rent a car to go to one of my acquaintance's (J) sister wedding at a city like 30 minutes away from me. A is from different state (about 2 hour drive from me), and bring along my other 2 friends who also lives in the same state as him (i'm quite close to them too). But apparently they didn't invited me? im like okay maybe because i wasn't invited to the wedding since im not really close to J. But then they picked up C which lives like 30 minutes away from me and C doesn't even knows J that much. So im just like kept my cool and think maybe they will call me and asked to hang out after they wedding. I waited till the evening but no, then i saw Whatsapp status from them hanging out together at a Book Fair. Not just that, B and E were there too and im only lives 5 minutes away from E!. D is out of state so I'd understand why he didn't come along but they are literally hanging out in some place near to me but why wasn't i invited? Maybe the car is full, ok. Maybe E went there by train, i could do that too if they invited me. It hurted me since we didn't live close to each other so i will take any opportunity just to hang out with them. We been planning for a trip which still isn't finalized but now im not so sure.
also p/s: I was there whey they invited C, i think i do said that i want to come along too but they didn't say anything.

Heyo! How are you?
As the title suggests, I’m looking for someone active to do a story in different settings. I have quite a few settings in mind and I'm really excited to give them a try.
My first one would be a superhero story. In this story. I want to explore both the action scene and the daily lives of our characters. How they interact with each other. How they come to terms to accept their abilities. As well as how they deal with the burden of being a hero. I want this to be heartfelt where our characters would talk about their daily lives, their fears, and their dreams as they develop a relationship with each other whether it is friendship or a romantic relationship. And I think we need to play multiple characters for the story to be interesting.
The next one is a cyberpunk one(Preferably set in the world of Cyberpunk2077). I want to explore how our characters survive in this harsh and cold city known as Night City, and how they write a legend of their own. Or die while trying to become one. And of course, I'd love that in the end, there's a happy ending for them even if it is unlikely.
My third one is a sci-fi story where my character is an alien who came to the Earth but was captured by humans. I want to explore how he adjust to living among the people who captured to him and observed him while trying to prove that he meant them no harm. I think their initial interactions would be extremely fun to explore.
And my last idea, A good old-fashioned zombie RP. Maybe it's a virus or a biological attack. But the world or the nation our characters live in is screwed. And for some reason, they banded together and tries to survive this horrible world. They would travel around looking for a safe sanctuary, or they could stand their ground and take back a town and build one of their own.

I saw a a job posting for a Garage assistant in my city and i was just wondering if they have a practical part of the interview. I am currently a MHA and I always wanted to be a mechanic because thats what i did a bit prior to the post office,but i spoke around and heard the mechanics and technicians had to do a practical part in the hiring process. I have never worked on an llv as well as my lack of confidence in able to properly replace a part scares me, So I never bothered to try to apply for the mechanic/technician postings. Since Garage assistant is pretty much the most entry level in the Auto tech/mech at the P.O i was hoping no such thing exsist, but if so i would love to know.

I hope you guys are doing well.
I recently moved to Montreal, specifically the West Island and have been struggling to get started in my new life here.
I’ll be honest in saying that I moved here predominantly to close a long distance relationship, but have visited the city before. I thoroughly enjoyed my week long vacation here, doing all sorts of touristy activities last winter. However, my direction was clear then. I was a tourist! It was really easy to have fun and I done a LOT of things.
I have been here for almost three weeks now. My time up until this point has been focused on adult things like finding a new job, organising a place to stay, figuring out how to get around, doing some grocery shopping, being with my partner and just overall settling in to a whole new life, which takes time in itself to come to terms with. It’s been a rollercoaster.
Regardless of where you are in the world, this is always a challenge. Making friends has never been a strong point of mine, job opportunities are still up in the air, having access to a new city is overwhelming at times and my previous hobbies died with me the day I left. Now that im starting to find my feet, it’s time to start creating a new lifestyle.
I have a lot of downtime outside of the three evenings a week my partner and I do things together, and some time on the weekends. My partner still attends his regular life schedule and most of my time is spent wondering what to do rather than actually getting out there and doing something. It’s a personal issue of mine. It’s like the world is in the palm of my hands yet I don’t know how to handle it. I don’t know how to start.
I’m from a very small town in Ireland, so living in a big city is sometimes hard to navigate. It also means that the simplest of things, that may seem silly to you, are absolutely incredible to me. I’m easily pleased, what can I say!
I guess im looking for some direction, maybe a push to get out there and do something, some things to try, things to do and how to do it!! It can literally be anything..
How do you start building a new life for yourself here?
How can I start putting myself out there to connect with new people?

Hello people of reddit, here is a wild story that is still going on, but to be on the safe side i'll release this information now, better safe than sorry.
Mom - my mom
Mom2 - my mom's gf
EP1 - entitled parent 1, Mom2's mom
EP2 - entitled parent 2, Mom2's dad
EP3 - entitled brother, Mom2's brother
So in the past week EPs committed the act of human trafficing, they sold Mom2. Mom managed to save her thanks to a not named friend. Mom has now recieved an unimaginable amount of fake bills and fake letters from even the "police" that EPs claim to be (claims that the case has been closed, but there are no watermarks of any police station, no contact info, nothing). After Mom managed to save Mom2, they were chased through 3 cities all around the place, they had to wait at a police station parking lot for 3 hours until it was morning. Mom and Mom2 managed to get to home. After a bit Mom's house was broken into, first time nothing was stolen, but we are suspecting that there is a tracking device somewhere in our car, as they seem to find Mom and Mom2 absolutely everywhere where Mom and Mom2 go. At one point Mom and Mom2 even got drugged and lets just say some awful stuff done to them. Next time EPs got into the house, they stole a lot of evidence that had been collected against them. Computers, phones, all gmail and other accounts hacked including bank account, EPs have taken Mom's money as well. Police has been informed from all of this, but so far nothing. I'll keep on sending updates how this goes. As of rn, i have managed to get Mom and Mom2 to a safe place. I can only hope that this ends well and soon.
And for this to happen out of all places, it had to be Finland. Great start for summer.

I've been running into some odd things in the game lately and I'm wondering if some of them are bugs or intentional.
1) Cooking pots stored on shelves don't save their contents between saved games - I wanted to collect one of each recipe but it doesn't seem possible - Even the cooking pot in my inventory doesn't always seem to save contents between saves, especially during multiplayer 2) Cooking pots on a fire with meals in them don't show for everyone in multiplayer - I made a stew, and it let me eat from it, but when my husband went to look at it it just said the pot had water in it. 3) Placing objects on shelves next to walls doesn't seem to work properly - Before, I could just add the items directly as long as one was already on the shelf. Now all that does is jiggle the logs on the wall behind the shelf. 4) Can't place lightbulbs, flasks, solar panels, or turtle shells on shelves. No storage container for stones apart from sled. - Lightbulbs and flasks at the very least should be able to go on shelves. - All the other items are big so I guess I can see why they can't go on shelves, but we could get some way to store them 5) Turtle shell traps are triggered by small animals - the other traps were fixed not to, so this one in particular really does seem like an oversight 6) In multiplayer, gliders don't respawn for the host but do for guests - Like, all this does is force my husband to pick up the glider, give it to me, save, leave, then re-enter so that he can pick up another glider. - the knight v respawns so why not the glider? Gliders have limited uses - you need a high enough spot to get one going and once you get to a location you still have to hike to get back. Seems limiting enough. 7) Can't equip Virginia with the revolver - like, why not? Let me replace the pistol with the revolver at least - come to that why can't we give Kelvin a chainsaw or a good axe? 8) No Knight V spawn location on the golf course - Not exactly a bug but what an oversight. The one place it would be pure pleasure to be able to ride around on the knight v and the closest one is through the forest miles away. 9) Flasks only have two sips, quenching thirst fully requires four - Even with the second sip finally working, this seems extremely restrictive. 10) No real way to keep multiple recipes - At the most you can have one in the pot and one in a flask. Of course, this also means you're not really using either to carry water.
