My wife is an alcoholic, she tries to recover, she has her slips (like a week a go she reset the "No incidents" counter) and I just sit in the distance watching if she succeeds. We occasionally go for a walk with our dog or do stuff together, but it's not every day and I call them dates because I need to learn about new her so it's like dating a new girl.
When she was drinking I wanted to take my mind off of this shitstorm and do things I wanted to do for a long time. I wanted to learn new language, I wanted to do something that will be interesting and helpful to me or to my family.
I really wanted to learn how to solder things like old charger wires and such. I got myself a solderer and all necessary stuff and wanted to learn. But my wife thought that I will fail and burn our apartment down. So it never took off and I just sat there without anything to do to take my mind off of her sickness.
I proposed that I can do some upgrades to our car. We didn't have any CarPlay or such, even no Bluetooth so we had some wires to plug in iPhone to have any music outside of radio (I am a metalhead so radio is not my preferred choice of music really) or listen to my favorite true crime podcasts. I could change the multimedia panel and have all that, but it was her car (she got it before our marriage) and she didn't allow me to touch it. I think it was a miracle I got to drive it two times a week. Her reason? I would burn that thing down (what's up with the burn down stuff?) because I am no electrician and never did any of this stuff. Okay, fair enough, I guess.
I proposed to change lifts in the trunk of a car so it can be opened with a button on keys automatically. Turned down for reasons stated before. I was boiling inside and proposed one last thing before giving up.
There is some kind of training constructor for soldering that will shape into a Christmas tree with lights and stuff that will work with USB power. Nope, I can't waste my money on such stuff to learn soldering not on a car, but on petty but still pretty dope stuff. I gave up.
Well, I split for different reasons, but I never let go of an idea that I can learn soldering and it will be helpful to me down the road. I don't know why I couldn't let it go.
I bought myself that training kit and yesterday I spent my evening assembling and soldering it. If you check local news there was no fires in my area. But there were yellow, red and green lights that were flashing from that little Christmas tree. It doesn't matter that it's May, I know that I am capable of assembling that simple chip with LEDs, I can follow instructions, I learned a huge pile of things in electronics and I learned once again that I am not shit.
You can bite my shiny metal ass, because YOU kicked me out of apartment and YOU let go the one who could learn new things and apply them to our lives to make it better, happier, prettier. I matter and my wishes can be reasonable and helpful. And I fucking loved to realize I can do whatever I want. She did it for a long time, not listening to me, just pouring liquor and beer. Well it's time that I don't care what she thinks, because I CAN safely solder things now. Yes, I can't solder myself a new wife (or can I?..) but I can do stuff and enjoy it.
So don't give up on your dreams even the petty ones, it's great that we still can have them. And we can make them come to life! You can't imagine how proud I am for that 17 cm Christmas tree that I have now in the middle of the year! I did it! And there was no complaining, no drinking smelling goblins near that forbid everything they see. And it felt good.
Do stuff that you want and need, it will make yourself feel better. Don't listen to those whacks who make poor choices themselves but try to forbid something you want! You matter! Your wishes are as important as theirs. As anyones. Hope you realize that sooner than I did. But I did it!

Sorry if this doesn’t belong here but I’m in a bit of a predicament. Just quick back story, I’m a 25 (F) and my husband 24 (M) have been married for two years. When we first got married, I received a bunch of gift cards. My husband and I wanted to start trying for a baby right away so I took the opportunity to use the gift cards I received to buy a few baby items (brand new infant car seat and a pack and play, plus a baby swing). My trying for a baby experience has turned into a two year battle with infertility. I was diagnosed with PCOS last year. I’m currently doing IUI. I’ll be blunt I do not have my hopes up that I will be able to get pregnant.
The issue is I have my baby supplies stored in my parents home since I live out of state. I’m going to be moving back home once I graduate with my bachelors degree this July. The reason why my baby supplies is stored at my parents place is because after I hit a year of trying to conceive looking at the baby supplies became too painful and my parents were more than happy to hang on to it for me. Now that it has been two years and I will be moving back home. I’ve asked my parents if they would be willing to donate the supplies to someone in their church. I’ve received a lot of backlash from my husband and my parents because they don’t understand why I won’t keep the items. I’ve explained that it’s honestly too painful to return home and see my stash and be reminded that I can’t have children. I would rather have the items go to another family that could use them instead of them collecting dust. This is causing a lot of tension between me, my husband, and my parents who are insistent on keeping the baby items.
So I’m seeking feedback if I’m in the wrong for wanting to give away baby items?

Just wanting some advice on how reliable the 2019 Astra RS is, any concerns or things to look out for? Seems well equipped and well priced so wondering if there's a reason. I'm in New Zealand so have concerns since Holden pulled out, or is there really no worry? Also, if not this car any recommendations? Looking good. Everyone who thought that this car would be released in 2014 have diluted themselves. It takes so much effort, resources and time to start a car company, I knew from the start to add 5-10 years to the proposed release date, whether buying the car or just investing in the company. Same thing for the new Sondors three wheel proposed last decade which is nearly the same thing as Elio, or if you try and invest in a new type of plane or commercial truck design. Just keep the faith, it will get here when in gets here.

I 32 female and dating 38 male. We have been dating for 9 months. For some backstory..My daughter (11) absolutely loves him, along with my family and I could truly see a life with him. We fell very fast. He started staying with me very early on and practically moved in. Switched jobs to make our schedules work. I really saw the effort he put in and interest in being a part of our lives. I bought my house 5 years ago and it made sense for him to move in instead of his apartment with how much time he was there. It had only been a couple months after we met when he moved in and immediately realized financially he was struggling way more than he let on when we met. Lost his new job and then I carried everything for a month till he got back on track because my dad ended up setting him up with a very good job. My daughter's father also decided around the same time he moved in that I would need to take her full time. So to give him credit he has been more of a father to her than her own dad lately. But recently I've felt like he feels he has ownership of everytthing here. Let's remember this is my house that I got on my own. I am pretty handy and it is a fixer upper.
We both probably drink too much when there is a chance to go out. However I'm still able to get up in the morning and still able to handle my responsibilities while he will sleep for the most of the day and I don't have much help with anything.
Today was one of those days. We had to pick up my daughter from her overnight sleepover at a hotel early in the morning. I grabbed him a muffin from the hotel which he got crumbs all over my car that I mentioned but needed to pick up myself. After getting home he slept while I pushed through staying awake and getting things done. I weeded everything, I got mulch and other supplies for the yard as well as all of the groceries that we were going to need to grill out in the day. I did invite him along but he was too tired.
When I got back he did offer to help with yard work but also added in that he felt like he was staying up because I would be upset with him if he went back to sleep. I decided to still take him up on his help. When I noticed the mulch being spread too thin I mentioned it several times but he had come up with his own way to go about it and got upset with my input. I told him if this was an issue for him I would prefer to just not have his help then.
All the food I purchased for the day to grill I had prepped and gotten ready and all he needed to do was cook it..we had a similar small issue that greatly upset him that he needed to leave and calm down for. Its made me question why I do all this work without having any say to the outcome. This is one days example but what I feel is becoming more common. AITA for doing all the work, purchasing everything and then expecting things to be done a certain way?

Hello, I had purchased a dodge charger rt and I’m new to dodge since I’ve recently owned a chevy malibu. My malibu has always been reliable and never had any risk or any use of anti-theft devices for thieves despite me living in southern ca.   • Urick first PCR: Before Asia called him, he didn't know about the PCR motion. She was concerned if she had to come out here. I explained to her, I was not her attorney. But I told her that she would have to be served. And if she was served, and if they made the proper arrangements, she would have to show up.
  • Serial, Episode 1: Asia's fiancé comes to the door, opens it part way, tells the investigator that she cannot speak to Asia, but that from what he knows of Adnan's case, Adnan is guilty and deserved the punishment he got.
  • Rabia: Adnan’s PI returns with terrible news. Asia won’t testify. The PI never spoke to her, but her fiance made it very clear, in a very nasty way that suggested an anti-Muslim prejudice, that Asia would not be involved and to leave them alone . . . Faced with a tough decision, [Justin Brown] decides to submit [Asia's] letters but not subpeona her for the appeal hearing.
  • Asia Affidavit: In the late spring of 2010, I learned that the Syed defense team was attempting to contact me. I was initially caught off guard by this and did not talk to them.
  • 2016 PCR: Asia testified that her husband met the PI outside, then came inside and told her he thought it was about that girl that got killed. That she asked her husband to take the man's card, but she didn't talk to him. That she looked up the case on the internet, and called Kevin Urick. Asia says these are the notes she took during her April 11, 2010 conversation with Urick. Asia testified that Urick convinced her Adnan was guilty and that Brown was trying to play the system.

I recently came back from vacation and managed to leave an item there in the car rental with Hertz. I called and they said they have it, they said to go to ups and make a prepaid package but when I went to one they said something about a them being a third party and that I need to go to a ups hub ?? I don’t think there is one in my location so what do I do now?? I appreciate help but I’m new to the whole I lost something in a car rental.. thank you

I'm not really a math wizard but my assumption is I can refinance out of a fed inflated interest rate if I buy. If I lease I cannot.
This is my predicament.
I need an SUV to tour the country in pulling a 5000 lb camper trailer.
I've narrowed it down to a GLS or GLE. I hate buying cars when they're just about to release a new body style so this rules out used for the GLE.
The other issue with lease vs buy is this. Logically touring the country a lease sounds like a horrible idea. But I have no commute. Any and all driving is for leisure. So I could probably make 20k miles a year work and if I go over then I'll pay for it....
But I'm genuinely wondering based on the rapid depreciation of these cars, at 25 cents a mile and beating the shit out of it towing all the time, I almost feel like I'm getting a bargain just paying that to walk away in 3 years versus buying and then trying to sell it with high miles before the warranty is up.
What do you guys think, would a lease in my situation be better if I'm planning on putting ridiculous miles on the cars? I could always buy it out if the difference between the trade in value and the buyout price is less than the mileage overage fees.

Now after my cringey intro, ill try describe what im actually looking for on here. The sad realization for me is, that im in my 30s and been adulting for quite a while and I actually have ZERO true friends in real life and online for that matter. Truth be told, I realize that this something that a lot of people my age experience and its something that is part of the adult experience of my generation...but it still saddens me to believe that this is the case. I admit there might be some blame to put on me being diagnosed with depression many years ago, something I still battle and work on to this day. I sometimes felt that people can see my depression through my eyes no matter how hard I try to play the daily life game and act that everything is fine and not display any clues as to whats going on inside me, or they can even pick off the "smell" of it.
So im here in an attempt to prove myself I can find online friends, hopefully creating some sort of a long term connection if possible, but its not a must - obviously there is no need to commit to anything right away. Its reddit after all, people ghost each other all the time and I accept that.
I dont have an exact idea of what kind of connection I look for on here. I thought it could be nice finding someone to talk to, with whom I can feel comfortable talking about any subject without the fear of being judged. Im not easily startled by anything, so as long as its a subject we both agree on and are able to have a respectful conversation about it and can even disagree with each other, im down. Im really open to any subject or idea you have in mind, so feel free to just start with it right away if you decide to reach out.
We can also share our interests/passions, talk about our daily life struggles, experiences, memories, secrets or what not, or just rant to each other if we had a bad day. I admit that a listener I can sometime jump to providing solutions right away, but over time I learned to how to just listen and not say anything right away - so I can be that person for you as well.
