Hello all, I am looking for a small and lightweight laptop, 14 inches and less than 2kg (4,4 lb), easy to carry around. I will use it to program in Python and Matlab, run machine learning models (on the cloud though) and to model in Blender and run Unity engine with ease. I will not use it for intense AAA gaming, I have a gaming (heavy!!) laptop for that.
My first pick was the asus vivobook 14x pro oled but it is impossible to find in my country or online so I looked around and found two new contenders: Lenovo yoga slim 7 pro x and Dell inspiron 14 plus.
Lenovo Yoga: Ryzen 7 6800hs, 16gb ram, 512 gb ssd, rtx 3050
Pros: very lightweight (1,45kg/3,19 lb) and solid build
Cons: only 2 usb A and 2 usb C ports
Price: 1299 €
Dell Inspiron: i7 12700h, 16gb ram, 512 gb ssd, rtx 3050
Pros: microSD card reader, 2usb A, hdmi, thunderbolt 4
Cons: the build quality isn’t the best according to the reviews and it’s a little heavier (1,68 kg/ 3,7 lb)
Price: 1143 €
The build quality of the dell one is the thing that scares me the most, if it wasn’t for that I would pick that because of all the extra ports and card reader. Is the build quality a big issue for this model?
If you have any new suggestions though feel free to let me know, my budget is 1500€ max! Many thanks!

2023.05.23 05:03 Cdoom85 How Did Your Favorite Players Perform (Relative to Seeding) At Battle of BC 5?

Hey all! As u/T51bwinterized hasn’t posted one of these in a while and my last post of one of these was a year ago, I thought that I should bring this back at least once for one of the biggest Post-Pandemic events in Ultimate. Given that I’m pretty busy right now (sadly), I probably can’t go super into depth on everyone, which means that I will only be covering those who either were SEEDED TOP 48 or PLACED TOP 48 at Battle of BC 5. Nevertheless, I’ll do my best with what I have! Thank you to those who supported my last edition of this on Momocon/Combo Breaker back in 2022.
Now, let’s get into it! As always, the disclaimers for the following can be seen below:
Disclaimer 1: Not all runs are equal. Some players may fight the best of the best on their runs, some may not. Do not take this as a direct comparison of the skill level of players.
Disclaimer 2: If a player performs poorly, that does not mean they are a bad player. There are many more opportunities for the top-seeded players to be upset instead of making upsets of their own. Additional external factors may also influence performance as well. One tournament does not define a player’s career. This analysis is not to stress out players over their individual placements - it is simply written for entertainment and data. Do not be rude to players.
Disclaimer 3: Seeds are expectations - they will not always be accurate. As noted prior, there are many more opportunities for a top-seeded player to be upset instead of making upsets, and as such, it is easier for lower seeds to overperform. Beating high expectations is extremely difficult, and issues with seeding are also viable explanations for a player to underperform or over-perform.
How to Read This: Number indicates placement relative to expected placement - or actual loss compared to round expected to lose. If a player was expected to place 9th, they would be seeded between 9th and 12th. Therefore, if they placed 7th, they would perform one round better than they were seeded to - and would get +1. If they placed 13th, they performed one round worse than seeded, and would get -1.

+5 or More (Superstar Performance)

Armadillo - 58th seed. 9th place. (+5) - Hell yeah baby! Lucario stocks are on the rise! While Armadillo has already been known for a while as the best Lucario in Canada and a strong WiFi player, Montreal's #3 has been on the cusp of international greatness ever since the start of 2023. A 17th at LMBM with wins over Quik and Jake proved that he could do it - but even then, he didn't quite have that huge breakout tournament that everyone knows he's capable of. Finally though, as he channeled the aura of his home country, the hometown hero blasted through the competition all throughout Saturday. It all started off with a 2-0 victory against Exodia in pools, and from there, a Sonix DQ and a handful of upsets led to a clean victory against hero player quillie. Pushing the limit, Armadillo styled his way into top 24 with a 3-0 victory over AndresFn - but he wasn't quite done yet. In one of the last sets of the day, he absolutely obliterated Shuton 3-0, with a deserved pop-off and a guaranteed top 12 finish. Although he didn't manage to make top 8, Armadillo let it be known that not only Lucario, but he as a player, are definitely major threats to keep an eye out for in the future.

+2 to +4 (Strong Tournament)

Shuton - 10th seed. 3rd place. (+4) - Is it weird to say that I feel like Shuton is the most under-recognized top player? While he’s not necessarily one to place at the pinnacle of any massive event, Shuton’s top-level consistency is almost frightening, as he’s basically always competing for the grand prize at every event that he attends. Overcoming an early fright against Skyjay and silencing the Tempaman allegations, Shuton instead decided that his weird upset of this tournament would be against Lucario, getting 3-0’d by Armadillo to head down to the losers bracket. He then proceeded to fairly quietly have an impressive 6-set run through losers bracket - knocking out JDV, MuteAce, Sisqui, Zomba, Maister, and Kameme before falling to Acola for 3rd. While a 25th at Kagaribi #10 remains the main stain on his performance this year, Shuton already has two majors under his belt this season and looks to be in good position to remain top 10 in the world.
Kameme - 15th seed. 4th place. (+4) - AYO. WHAT WAS MY MAN COOKING? One of the best losers runs of this year, an early upset at the hands of MuteAce meant a long path for Kameme to meet his seeding, let alone to make top 8. But with a little bit of magic and a little bit of luck, the Keyblade wielding warrior rose up to the challenge, eliminating Big D, Luugi, Onin, Glutonny, Yoshidora, and Miya in one of the most stacked groups of wins that I’ve ever seen. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention - he also took out MkLeo. At 13th. He even pulled out the ProtoBanham strategies, swapping to Megaman in game 3 before swapping back to Sora and cleanly closing out the set in a 3-2 victory. With a staggering 5(!!!!!) of those wins being players ranked in the top 20 by UltRank in 2022, Kameme can be more than proud of his performance at this event, and has almost surely locked down a solid placing for the season. Definitely the real star of the show this weekend.
Maister - 19th seed. 5th place. (+4) - With Miya quickly surging to the top as of recent with multiple major victories and a sloppy start to the year for Maister, it felt like the original Game and Watch main had to prove himself as a top contender with something big here. While he's still working on snatching back the position of Game and Watch in the world, he absolutely delivered a great showing this weekend, reminiscent of the Maister that we're used to seeing. With wins on Tweek, Mr. E, and Glutonny, he made it to top 8 only dropping one game to Nessboy12 (yes, that is their real tag). It looks like only time will tell when his first major victory will be - and with Tweek and Light in attendance for MomoCon this weekend, it could definitely be sooner rather than later.
Dmitrii. 140th seed. 33rd place. (+4) - Quietly one of the most surprising performances of the tournament, Ireland’s #1 player (currently residing in Canada) beat Terra, JoJoDaHoBo, and who else but Mr. R on his way to 33rd place. Oh, and he did this all with Piranha Plant by the way - no biggie.
Zomba - 20th seed. 7th place. (+3) - In a bracket with Tweek, Light, Onin, Dabuz, and more, who would have thought that Zomba would be the highest placing player from the U.S.??? While the northeast’s best ROB has been thriving locally, he hadn’t quite been able to break the wall this season, placing just outside top 8 at three out of his past four majors. So what better time to break through than at one of the most top-heavy majors of the year? With wins on Quik, KEN, MkLeo, and Tweek, the so-called Prince of New York is looking to expand his empire to the rest of the United States - and the rest of the U.S. better stay vigilant if they want to keep their territory safe.
Sisqui - 25th seed. 9th place. (+3) - Luckily for SisOUI, Canada is the perfect place for him to get a bit of the french powerup. A last-second seeding change meant that instead of fighting against Olimar, he’d be fighting Riddles in a notably less depressing matchup for Samus. Unlike last year’s iteration of BoBC where Riddles pulled out the Richter in a 3-2 victory, Sisqui took this opportunity to the bank, sending Riddles down to losers in 3-0 fashion before spoiling Yoshidora’s NA debut with some weaponry clearly far too advanced for a 65 million-year-old dinosaur to comprehend. A loss to Acola was unluckily followed up by an Olimar jumpscare, and while Sisqui’s Incineroar managed to take a game from Shuton, it was a little too much to ask for the whole set - sending him rolling out at 9th.
BassMage - 34th seed. 17th place. (+2) - Coming off his first top 8 at an open-bracket major in North America, the floating puffball found his way into top 24 after beating Mr. E. While he couldn’t clutch out a game 5 set against Yoshidora, he’s definitely proven himself to be a unique threat to any player.
Tarik - 38th seed. 17th place. (+2) - Finally making his way back to North America after almost a year, Germany’s best player and arguably the best Greninja in the world took BoBC by storm. Declaring prior to the tournament that he was excited to play ShinyMark since he likes the Pikachu matchup, Tarik’s confidence held up in bracket, as he overcame the rat to claim a 3-2 victory. Although Light was a bit too quick to handle in the subsequent set, he vanquished Felix’s fox before washing Chronos out of the tournament to secure EU’s third top 24 spot. Unfortunately, a matchup with Dabuz meant battling with one of EU’s kryptonites - the pikmin plucker himself. While he fought valiantly, it wasn’t meant to be, as he ended at a hard-fought 17th place.
JDV - 44th seed. 17th place. (+2) - Washington, rise up! Not only did the best Pac-Man in the West overcome an early upset to Quinn in his bracket run to 17th place, but he secured a handful of impressive wins, including Grape, pacstreet, KEN, and Ouch!? - the latter of which might have been the most impressive, as the Wolf main sported a 11-0 record against him prior to this tournament.
Mr. E. 54th seed. 25th place. (+2) - Lowkey, a hell of a performance from Mr. E this weekend. Beat Felix, Moxi, and the Biggest D before getting a little bit matchup-checked against BassMage. It's good to see him perform well.
Marvelous_Marco. 74th seed. 33rd place. (+2) - Continuing to make an argument for themselves as the best Toon Link in North America, SoCal’s current #13 snatched up wins on Blacktwins and Luisito, and was a game away from adding Luugi to his collection as well.
Felix. 78th seed. 33rd place. (+2) - A little bit of a lucky bracket meant no upsets by seeding for Arizona’s current #4 on PR, but they did manage to get a game off of Mr. E and got a nice reverse 3-0 on Canadian Richter player Liam before losing to Tarik.
SPARKLE. 81st seed. 33rd place. (+2) - While a Zinoto DQ helped their performance, an upset against Opsine and a win on Sho marked a solid performance for them.
Ing. Peru. 86th seed. 33rd place. (+2) - Yet another individual known for their prominence on WiFi, Ing. Peru defeated Capitancito, Silver, and Justice - three very impressive victories - to make it to 33rd, where they were taken out by fellow Mexican Skyjay.
Slime. 94th seed. 33rd place. (+2) - Repping their country, wins on Chronos and luisito are definitely not too shabby for Canada’s best Bowser Jr.

-1 to +1 (Normal Tournament)

Sparg0 - 2nd seed. 1st place. (+1) - With a huge losers run and dominant victory over Acola at Kagaribi, Sparg0 looked poised to continue his push for #1 in the world, hoping to leave his 13th at Summit as a strange outlier. While he blitzed his way through the early stages of bracket, his main test came in his top 12 qualifier, as an Kameme meant yet another match with bracket demon MuteAce. A 3-1 victory and a pop-off later, Sparg0 found himself in prime position to sweep through the rest of the tournament. And sweep through he did, truly looking undefeatable against Armadillo, Maister, and Acola - twice - to claim the top prize. Even without Leo, it’s looking more and more likely that the claim to fame of Smash Ultimate's #1 player will be staying in Mexico at the end of this season.
Yoshidora - 9th seed. 7th place. (+1) - FINALLY. FINALLY, the best Yoshi in the world got his main appearance on stage in North America. Although Yoshidora’s bracket luck was pretty damn good, as he only fought players seeded below him the entire bracket (yes, even when he lost), he did manage to show off his talent with a 3-0 walloping of Dabuz, who - coming from Tristate - should have had some of the most Yoshi experience in the U.S. Losses to Sisqui and fellow countryman Kameme were tough but hey, a top 8 is a top 8. No complaints here.
MuteAce - 18th seed. 13th place. (+1) - What a weird season for MuteAce. Decimating everyone except for Leo at Genesis and winning LTC in the USA was paired with him getting absolutely obliterated in Japan. So, in order to balance the two countries out, he decided to perform basically as seeded in Canada. A small upset on Kameme and a 3-0 on Kola meant a positive SPR at least - which is something that he can be appreciative of following those Japanese majors.
Kola - 28th seed. 17th place. (+1) - Kola’s consistency in 2022 was surprisingly solid. Outside of a weak end to the year at LMMM and Mainstage, his worst placement was a 9th at MomoCon 2022. Now, though, I honestly feel like Kola is lowkey merging into the Cosmos Fan Club™, where he either performs amazingly or places abhorrently with no in-between - and unfortunately for him so far, his 2023 has been more of the latter. Thankfully, this tournament was not one of those cases, as he closed it out against Ryuoh and 3-0d Goblin to make it to Day 3 of bracket. While the run stopped there, it’s a positive takeaway for Kola’s future tournament aspirations.
Goblin - 33rd seed. 25th place. (+1) - While only a +1 SPR performance, Goblin racked up some solid wins at this tournament. After being upset by a Ridley player in pools, Goblin secured wins on Machu, Smokk, and ApolloKage to make it to top 32. A job well done.
Chronos - 35th seed. 25th place. (+1) - What initially looked like a questionable performance after an upset by Canadian Bowser Jr. player Slime turned into a quietly stellar showing, as Chronos secured victories on SHADIC, Samuel, embo_z, Z, and, most impressively, Neo, before he bowed out in a game 5 loss to Tarik.
AndresFn - 39th seed. 25th place. (+1) - Much like his compatriot Sisqui, AndresFn held it down for Spain, albeit in a less exaggerated manner. Outplaced his seed by beating Babino and Soar.
Chag - 41st seed. 25th Place. (+1) - An uneventful event for the best Mexican Palu, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Took advantage of Cosmos’s lack of bracket awareness and won the sets that he was seeded to win.
Yoda Cage. 53rd seed. 33rd place. (+1)
Soar. 59th seed. 33rd place. (+1) - Canada’s best Steve secured a ShinyMark win at this tournament to beat his seed. Good stuff!
Miya - 5th seed. 5th place. (+0) Okay, come on now. When are we going to start talking about if Game and Watch is a top 10 character? Arguably Japan’s second best player and competitor for top 5 in the world, Miya made his return to a North American open major since he won Apex on his first visit to the continent. With a nice handful of wins over Kola, Lemmon, and Onin, Miya showed that he was prepared for the Zombcina this time with a 3-0 victory. Although a close loss to Acola and a rough SD against the Kamemii brawler meant a 5th place finish, this was nonetheless still a very solid performance from the young prodigy.
Glutonny - 11th seed. 9th place. (+0) - EU’s #2 (that feels so weird to say) had his mixture of highs and lows over the weekend. Although victories on Neo and Light set him up in great position for top 8, back-to-back losses to Maister and Kameme surely left him feeling like he could have done more.
Dabuz - 16th seed. 13th place. (+0) - An okay event for DaGoat. Almost beat Acola in an insanely close set, and then promptly got turned into dino food by Yoshidora. He did make it to his seed though which is alright.
Yaura - 17th seed. 17th place. (+0) - Yaura’s set vs. Spargo at Kagaribi showed that the Samus/Dark Samus main can not only beat the best in Japan, but also the best in NA - something that avid followers of the Japanese scene have known for a while. Sadly for him, his bracket was pretty ugly this time, as he ran into two brutal matchups in Olimar and Fox to go out as seeded.
Skyjay - 23rd seed. 17th place. (+0) - With a fiery start to 2023 true to his main, the best Incineroar in the world looked to keep getting hotter at BOBC. Those hopes fizzled out at the hands of his own countryman, as MkLeo disposed of Skyjay with a solid 3-0. Not too bad otherwise though, and almost garnered a win over Shuton.
Luugi - 31st seed. 25th place. (+0) - Back in his homeland, an introductory NA bracket for the world’s best Luigi resulted in a performance without getting upset and came away with a win over BassMage. Losing to 1st and 4th for 25th is definitely a rough one though.
Dark Wizzy - 32nd seed. 25th place. (+0) - While he still has yet to reach the peaks that he once had in early Ultimate, Dark Wizzy has shown that he still has the potential to be a threat to some of the top players. Taking advantage of some DQs and upsets, the Mario main made it through to winners top 64 unscathed, where he pushed Acola to the brink in a 3-2 loss. After performing some garden maintenance and 3-0ing Dmitrii, Dark Wizzy kind of got tossed around by Yaura, but still managed to reach his seed.
Ryuoh - 37th seed. 33rd place. (+0) - Japan’s best Diddy placed as seeded, but had an under-the-radar solid bracket. Wins against Ludo and Lemmon as well as close losses to Kola and Riddles showed that he has what’s needed to win big, and hopefully he’ll be back in the future!
Jahzz0 - 40th seed. 33rd place. (+0)
quiK - 45th seed. 33rd place. +0 - Placed as seeded; almost preemptively halted Zomba’s path of destruction before having to feel the pain of the Samus MU himself in a ditto vs Yaura.
Moxi - 47th seed. 33rd place. (+0)
Acola - 1st Seed. 2nd place. (-1) - At the start of this tournament, I expected Acola to make his way to Grand Finals in one way or another - he’s one of two frontrunners for #1 in the world for a reason. What I didn’t expect to see was a flashback to Smash 4 Tweek-Leo sets in one of the weirdest grand finals of the year, as the best Steve seems to have finally found a wall that he can’t mine through. Clutching out a couple of close calls against Miya, Dabuz, and (surprisingly) Dark Wizzy, Acola found himself once again contending for the top spot that he’s more than used to by now, up against his rival once more. While his Pythra did take a game in Winners Finals, Sparg0 cleaned up nicely, sending him to losers. So, after defeating Shuton to get the runback in Grand Finals, what character does he choose? Steve? Pythra? Even Kazuya? Well, if you guessed Donkey Kong, you would be right! Alas, while game one was close, Sparg0 looked to have the poor ape tranquilized in game #2 of Grand Finals, and even a swap back to Pyra/Mythra couldn’t prevent the inevitable 3-0 from happening. With the opportunity of World #1 starting to slip away from his fingertips, Acola is going to have to put in some crazy work for the rest of the season if he wants to finally claim his position at the top.
Ouch!? - 29th seed. 33rd place. (-1) - One of Canada’s breakout stars from last year’s Battle of BC, Ouch!? was looking to bring the pain this tournament. Alas, it wasn’t meant to be - after being clutched on by MkLeo in one of the best yet most tragic sets of all time, he promptly fell victim to JDV to place 33rd.
Capitancito - 43rd seed. 49th place. (-1) - Lost to Ing. Peru in the WiFi warrior matchup, and then BassMage in a close game 5 set.

-4 to -2 (Weak Tournament)

Onin - 12th seed. 17th place. (-2) - Aside from a poor 25th at LMBM at the start of this year, the 2nd best Steve in the world hasn’t really gone to anything major, instead choosing to terrorize his region (or more specifically, IcyMist and Zinoto) by winning every single regional that he’s attended. His pre-local performance looked REALLY shaky too - losses to BC players Opsine and Pacstreet didn’t really fill me with much confidence for his run. He turned the dial up on Saturday though, chopping up ApolloKage in a brutally one-sided set and coming within a hair’s breadth of upsetting Miya. Unfortunately, his run came to a close against a red-hot Kameme, but he definitely showed that he still has what it takes to compete at a top level even if it wasn't his best tournament.
KEN - 13th seed. 25th place. (-2) - Last year’s winner of BoBC looked to run it back this year and achieve victory once more. That was, at least, before he spun out against Zomba, and then got his ankles broken against JDV - the latter of which was additionally unfortunate, as it sadly prevented us viewers from seeing the new season premiere of yet another Shuton-KEN set.
ApolloKage - 21st seed. 33rd place. (-2) - Honestly, this result was kind of shocking for me, as I thought AK would run through Onin after the latter of the two looked shaky at the prelocal. Not only did Onin make mincemeat out of him, but Goblin then popped off on him immediately in losers. It seems like he’s learned a bit about the spirit of competition in this bracket though, and I’m certain he’ll have better performances in the future.
Neo - 22nd seed. 33rd place. (-2) - Trade War’s beloved Corrin main had a rough draw. A loss to Gluto led to a matchup with Snake main Chronos, who had already disposed of Shadic earlier in the bracket. Chronos wasted no time doing the same with Neo, sending them tumbling out before top 32. An unlucky bracket this time, but they're obviously a great player - go and support getting them at SSC!
ShinyMark - 27th seed. 49th place. (-2) - While ShinyMark is definitely the best Pikachu in the world currently, he seems to have carried on ESAM’s legacy of consistency - or more specifically, the lack of it. While he clearly has the potential to be a top player - and Soar and Tarik are both good players - a 49th place is tough to deal with after his performance at Collision.
Mr. R - 36th seed. 65th place. (-2) - Poor Mr. R. After a super close 3-2 loss to Ouch!?, it seemed like Mr. R was playing great, and could definitely run it back through losers! Then he lost to Dmitrii the Piranha Plant. The pain only continued later on, with his near clutch in the US vs World crew battle turning into a last hit last stock loss against Onin. Only pain exists for this man in Ultimate. At least it sounds like he had a fun time at the event as a whole!
Light - 6th seed. 13th place. (-3) - With his last major tournament coming a bit over two months ago at Collision, it was a little bit difficult to predict how Light would perform at BoBC. Sure, a 3rd at Genesis and a 1st at LVL UP EXPO were great...buuuuut a loss to Quandale Dinglelingleton and a 9th at Collision marked Light’s first placement outside of top 8 at an open bracket since Glitch Infinite in February 2022. At BoBC, while he did claim the place of #1 Light in NA by defeating his Canadian counterpart just before top 128, Glutonny and Tweek flipped the switch on him, leading to a relatively uninspiring 13th place.
Riddles - 8th seed. 17th place. (-3) - Another victim of the Westjet cancellations, Canada's best player luckily pulled through in time for bracket. Although he got through pools unscathed, he quickly ran into a tough matchup early on against Sisqui, where the Samus main got revenge for last year's top 8 at Battle of BC 4. A couple of banana peels later and Tweek sent the Devil back where he belonged, with Riddles slipping out of bracket before top 16.
Big D - 14th seed. 33rd place. (-3) - It seems like finally, for the first time this year, Big D got iced out instead of his opponents. An upset loss to Mr. E led to an early meeting with Kameme, who disposed of the dastardly duo in a 3-1 fashion. A sponsorship announcement by Luminosity Gaming has the future looking bright for Big D though, and he'll have plenty more opportunities to look forward to at future majors.
MkBigBoss - 26th seed. 65th place. (-3) - After being whomped by Zomba in a money match 5-1, a bad weekend turned to worse in round one pools as BigBoss lost to Canadian Ike player Babino before top 128. A 3-2 loss to Larry Lurr just outside of top 64 put the emphasis on a subpar performance. He did win doubles with Leo though, so it wasn't all bad this weekend!
Tweek - 3rd seed. 9th place. (-4) - The storylines for Tweek this season have been interesting. Sometimes, he dominates, like his victory at LMBM 2023. Other times, he can’t quite close it out - having lost from the winners side of grand finals to both Light and Acola this season. And, finally, sometimes he barely ekes into top 8, with two 7th places at Genesis and Collision. With an opportunity to make a late push for 1st in the world, the storyline was all set for the best in the U.S. to make a run through the bracket. Although victories against Riddles and Light - the latter of which was in 3-0 fashion - did cement his argument for the best in the U.S., upsets at the hands of Maister and Zomba marked a rare placing outside of top 8 for Tweek - his worst placement at an open bracket tournament since a 17th place at SSC 2022. Down but not out, he’ll look to try and claim his second major victory of the year at MomoCon later this week.
Leo - 4th seed. 13th place. (-4) - While this is technically under the “Weak Tournament” range, let’s be real here - this is a HUGE red alert for the uncontested best Ultimate player of all time. Barely scraping by Ouch!? in one of the hypest sets of the year, Leo promptly got upset by the second best player in Mexico, Zomba. A convincing beatdown of Skyjay brought a glimmer of hope to his fans, hoping to see a coveted Leo losers run make its appearance yet again, just like those oh-so-good old times. In one way or another, they got exactly what they wished for, as just like at EVO 2019, Kameme sent things crashing down for Leo - except this time, it was to be eliminated at 13th, his worst placement offline since Umebura Japan Major 2019. With the losses piling up and his placements getting farther away from first, his dominant victory at Genesis over MuteAce feels like it's now in the distant past. He’s going to need a major turnaround ASAP if he wants to even be ranked in the top 3 this season - as his first place spot is all but lost at this point.
Ferps - 46th seed. 129th place. (-4) - Brazil’s newly crowned #1 finally had the chance to play in an open bracket major again, with his only prior attempt being an unfortunate but solid 97th at Super Smash Con 2022, losing to Marss and Scend. Sadly, things didn't go as planned, as losses to Nessboy12 and Invictus meant that he was sent drowning in round 1 pools.

-5 and Below (Wash Out)

SHADIC - 30th Seed. 129th Place. (-5) - Well, this wasn’t the hottest event for Corrin players as a whole. After being caught by the joint largest upset of the tournament in a UF6 loss to Arizona Snake main Flowz, an early upset on the other side of pools meant a fight to the death against Chronos to make it out of pools. Unfortunately for Shadic, the snake is mightier than the dragon (somehow), sending them to a disappointing 129th place finish.

Cosmos Tier

Cosmos - 24th Seed. Cosmos Placement. (+Cosmos) - Cosmos is truly an enigma. While he did place 5th at KOWLOON 5 and 4th at LVL UP EXPO this season, he’s one of those players who will either play like a top 5 player or will wash out before top 16. In the perfect seed and the perfect spot to play like a god or buster out, he had the opportunity to create havoc and show his level up from Japan. So what happened at the tournament? Nothing, as he thought he had a Saturday pool and therefore missed the event entirely. It's a good reminder to stay vigilant and pay attention to bracket at least, and he will, thankfully, still be at MomoCon as well as Crown III. Good luck to him at those events!

(Quick) Final Analysis:

While a lot of people complained about a lack of hype from Ultimate Top 8 (and yeah, let's be real - that Grand Finals was pretty meh), it's without argument that BoBC 5 carried a ton of the hype that it promised to have ever since it was announced, from Kameme's crazy powerup to Zomba's victory over MkLeo and beyond. Aside from a handful of production issues throughout the weekend, the Quad stream for both Melee and Ultimate ran wonderfully, with setups even being equipped with player cams when there was only one set going on for stream. A vast majority of the players and attendees seemed to have a great time at the event, with many spouting their praises for the venue all throughout the weekend. Thanks to Dhir, Samuel, and all the other Tournament Organizers for BoBC for creating such an awesome event. I'm definitely looking forward to next year's Battle of BC 6!
Next week's tournaments are looking to be pretty diverse, with MomoCon 2023 being the prime major alongside a pair of superregionals in Gateway Legends and Combo Breaker. I probably won't be covering another one of these for a little while, but hopefully I'll manage to do one sometime again in the near future.

So I'm an IT manager, Dave Ramsey enthusiast, baby steps millionaire, goat yoga officinado. We hired a new girl at work everything looked good at first. So anyway me and her supervisor start helping her with her paperwork we ask her if she wants direct deposit low and behold she has a voided check from wells fargo ready to go. Me and her supervisor are trying to hold back laughter and he finally starts laughing and says "this is a joke right you go to a credit union". She looks confused and alarmed so I say " don't be ridiculous put your credit union down on the form"
She then starts gasping and saying that she doesn't have a credit union and the college set her up with Wells Fargo so she kept it. This sends her supervisor over the edge who says we should sue her for fraud cuz she didn't disclose a disqualifying condition on her resume being a wf customer. I told her she has been lying this time and if she has been hiding being at wells fargo her whole resume is a lie and she needs to fuck off back to anti work sub or 4 Chan shit, she doesn't need to be in the office.
So we brought in HR to deal with terminating her, litigation ect but they didn't do it. Now they want to meet with us. How should I handle this should I put Amex platinum Concierge support on speaker phone to put HR in their place.
