2023.06.10 02:35 wisteria_grow Help! How to solve this exponential and logarithmic equation for x

Hey, I'm currently taking functions on TVO ILC, and I've been stuck on this question for like 3 days and I can't figure it out for the life of me.
Since they won't let me show a photo I'll type it:
5x/√5 = 2(6x\2-2))
So 5x is divided by the √5 which is supposed to equal 2 times 6 to the power of x2-2
I have tried so many different ways to solve this. I know log has to come in at some time. But I'm mainly stuck on what to do about the 2 times 6 to the power of x2-2. Do I make it like 2(6^x2 (-/+) 6-2)
Or do I start by dividing both equations by 2 then multiply both sides by √5. Or do I start by multiplying both sides by √5 to get the radical out of the denominator then I divide everything by 2.
I am genuinely so confused and it sucks because I want to understand it so I know what to do. And I know that log has to come in somewhere since I'd rearrange exponential form to bring the exponents down to the base level. But how to get there is what I am unsure about.
Hopefully someone can help me, I'll literally be eternally grateful.

Supreme Court cases do not operate the way the Independent article suggests. Small details in a decision, tangential to the issue being decided, do not turn it into a landmark case, or even establish precedent. Rather, it is a decision's holding which determines whether a case is a landmark or not. The Independent is foreign owned and operated, but being a large outlet, they should know better than to put out an article like the one you linked to.
In the court system, pronoun policy is currently split at the appellate level, with the Sixth Circuit and the Seventh Circuit taking opposing sides. The Supreme Court has not weighed in on this yet, but the split makes it more likely they will choose to rule about it.
Besides this, Jonathon Turley writes at https://jonathanturley.org/2023/04/25/seventh-circuit-upholds-termination-of-high-school-teacher-who-objected-to-pronoun-policy/ that a currently pending religious accommodations case, Groff v. In this way, transgenderism is a demographic factor in the overall gentrification, just as unaffordable housing is an economic factor. Just as it is unwise to encourage unaffordable housing, it is unwise to encourage transgenderism.
Or even if you think replacement fertility is unrealistic and unachievable, consider that when the age structure of a population gets too unbalanced, it is harder to take care of the elderly. Or should elderly people just be relocated far away, or as some think, even euthanized? Every transgender sterilization is a step in the wrong direction.

Such people may even be willing to personally be on the losing side of a litmus test for the collective good.

I'm not sure if this has been covered in your classes so far, or privately by your boss. If so, bear with me as I restate it. The Pulse has a different political makeup among its advertisers versus its readers. That it is a free paper tends to result in a readership which is inherently less educated than the readership of a subscription newspaper. I used to know a man who had once ran a free paper, but sold it. He was a conservative. It had a lot of general-interest content, nothing political, and especially featured ads for alcohol. Free papers tend to be read by people who read occasionally rather than regularly.
Occasional readers are less educated than regular readers, and the level of education corresponds to the political alignment. This means that natural readership of the Pulse is more conservative than the overall population of Door County. For people with a regular reading habit, the Pulse competes with a number of subscription outlets, while for occasional readers the Pulse has less competition.
Yet the Pulse isn't dominated by gas station and liquor store ads. Unlike many other free papers, its advertisers run more towards the left. This makes sense, because presently Door County has a disproportionately left-wing visitorship. One factor in the loss of right-leaning tourists may be in marketing decisions over recent decades has shifted. Right-wingers from the Chicago metro area are probably drawn more towards state parks in Indiana and other Door County alternatives. Local businesses geared toward tourists, or even seasonal residents, will probably be well-served by advertising in the Pulse.
This leaves the Pulse in the situation where it is to the left of its readership, but still financially sustainable. Its leadership must be aware of this vulnerability, as the Pulse's podcast tends to be to the left of the paper. That it sometimes leaves its readership behind is exemplified how, in the recent midterm election, Ron Johnson did not return any answers to the Pulse's questionnaire, while his Democratic opponent did. Door Countyites voted for him anyway, by a margin of only 75 votes. During the 2022 election it seems that a number of Republicans intentionally spurned media outlets over left-wing bias. To the extent that they did so, and won office anyway, this served to send a message to their base that they were unwilling to be manipulated by left-wing media. It could even be seen as a plea for fair treatment in the future.
Instead of pronouns, there are other topics out there. Recently, a large firm was paid a lot of state money to write a report which claimed that "Potawatomi was chosen in honor of the tribe that had lived in the area before ceding its land to the US government in the 1830’s."

You could write an article debunking this, and explain what really happened. I think it would be well-received locally, though maybe not by the DNR. Had you written an article about how pronouns should always be biologically honest, that would have hurt your chances of getting a job someday as a journalist in a large metro area, but I don't think debunking Graef would hurt you. With some effort, you should be able to find other topics which are win-win for both your future career and for Door County. Although this is a social relationship, were it a biological relationship instead, this would be "mutualism" rather than "parasitism" or "predation".

I have gotten an insurance lapse in NYS for more than 90 days without insurance. I had returned the plates, and now the suspension days has been fully served. I want to get my car back on the road and be able to drive again. I have learned pieces of information on what are things that I need to do. But if anyone will be kind enough to help, I would like to know what are the steps and amount of time it will take for the whole process.
Below are what I know so far: 1st. I need to get my full insurance back for the car (it is still on a loan) 2nd. I need to fill up the form MV82 (DMV MV82 FORM 3rd. My driver license 4th. My title of the vehicle 5th. After bringing all these to DMV, I will get a license plate and registration immediately. (I will get it in person and not through mail) 6th. I will have to get my car inspected within 10 days since I will get a 10 days inspection temp.
My questions is: 1st. Is there anything that I mentioned above that is incorrect? 2nd. What is the approximate time it will take. 3rd. What will be the approximate cost for the process. 4th. I do have a time constraint where I will only have approximately 10 days to get the car back on road and I will be out of NYS for a few months. Is there anything else that I need to know when solving this issue?

So I'm solving this equation:
t^3 - 3t^2 = 3t - 9
One way I rearranged it:
t^2(t-3) = 3(t-3)
Then divide both sides by (t-3), get:
t^2 = 3
t = +-sqrt(3)
But the other way I can rearrange it and get one more solution is this:
t^3 - 3t^2 - 3t + 9 = 0
t^2(t-3) - 3(t-3) =0
(t^2-3)(t-3) = 0
t1 = 3
t2 = +- sqrt(3)
It seems to me that in both cases I do everything right, but then how come I get different solution? Please show me, where I am mistaken

2023.06.09 22:17 I_like_cheezee I don't feel my Ne working. Is this indicative of poor mental health?

I remember myself wildly thinking about math, creating new equations and solving them in my own brain. I would think of something unrelated like teleportation then start to have an existential crisis over the prospect of a person before teleporting being a different one after teleporting, and I could think of incredibly unconventional ways of solving problems which frankly made people call be crazy.
But now, I just don't feel like it anymore.
I'd just lie down and spend the entire day like that. Don't feel like doing even the things I got enjoyment out of. I am getting increasingly agitated at every tiny flaw I notice, both in my own work and other's, at times causing me to make comments in an audibly loud and frustrated tone.
I still quip around with finding new ways to string words together, just to see my own limits, but aside from that, it feels like the thought machine that was my Ne has gotten quite a lot of rust on it, refusing to work. My brain, which watch previously all scattered, is honestly still scattered. But not with new prospects, but old information all jumbled up, being a burden.
Is all of this a sign of some mental health issues?

2023.06.09 20:16 Double-Fun-1526 Fermi's Paradox and Demilitarization: I would like a protest candidate that starts a conversation on global peace. This is my view on why the lack of aliens encourages us to seek peace and lessen inequality.

The following is my take on why we should be calling for peace and tackling inequality. It is secular and, obviously, dealing with Fermi's Paradox. There are endless reasons for pacifism, this is my rather playful take.
I have a dream that we can get a presidential candidate in the Democratic party that runs a narrow campaign on demilitarization or pacifism and on tackling inequality. I do not like our alternative presidential options right now. You could call this a protest candidate that is trying to start an important conversation.
Countries do not have to begin dearming, they just need to say that they would be willing to demilitarize if their fellow nations do. There should be a tipping point where all nations will pressured into joining the global call. And then we can figure out how we achieve such. Smaller and peaceful nations could lead the way on that call. I do not suspect it will come from the U.S. first. This candidate would be about starting a global conversation as well as a national one.
I do not care about whether countries are capitalist or socialist, religious or secular. What I want is peace, demilitarization, and a cooperative step into the 21st century that sees all people rise up. Lastly I want every person to have the luxury of time and knowledge to see the gains that we as a species make. As we gain longer lives and the wonders of technology all people deserve a deep education. And they deserve not to live in poverty.
If we can build a Presidential candidate focusing on these basic problems then we can start broader conversations.
Anyways, I thought this would be something up Bernie Sanders alley or at least something he would endorse. This could be a candidate that unites the far left, intellectual left, and the scientific and secular left.
I would like to see any kind of better candidate that gets some traction, period. Even if we have to pragmatically accept Biden in the end.

We Are The Light
There is only one thing that matters. Light. Our light. It is all we know of.
There are stars and planets in the hundreds of billions expanding as far as we can see, proverbially speaking. But the only thing we know is that we are the only light. The only reflective, intelligent species. The only thing that knows that it exists.
We do not know if we are merely young. If we are merely first to awake. It seems unlikely. It is possible that there is other intelligent life in our galaxy or in other galaxies. If there are others in a distant galaxy, we may never touch them or their signals. But if such intelligence was created in our own then we should have seen it by now, assuming they are as expansive and as inquisitive as we are.
But for now, we are the light. We are the only known light in a vast, vast darkness.
There are those who believe they understand who we are. But the rest of us do not. And we are confused, perplexed, scared.
I am sorry, but there is only one thing that matters. Keeping that light shining. Keeping that light robust. We are in our infancy. We have merely just awoken. We have only known much of our world for a hundred years.
It goes without saying, that all war ends and international differences cease to be flash points. We build the world together, cooperatively. We do not spend two percent of our budgets on guns and missiles. I call for demilitarization across the globe.
I am sorry, but the grotesque inequalities that we allow to persist as a species must end. It is not written in our genes, in our characters. We are a reflective species. And our characters are far more malleable than that. There is endless exploration to be done. It is to be done as a species, as humanity.
But, yes, first we must demand that every life be livable. That we are to the person literate and educated about our world. We must solve our selves first, before we solve the cosmos.
We don't have to. We can leave people behind, leave people in the dark, leave people to poverty of wealth and knowledge. But most of us do not accept that. We will not accept that. Until we have made sure every life is livable then individuals do not own excessive resources, own their own islands, own sports teams. You take care of your fellow citizens first.
Sadly, even if we turn on a dime, all of us alive today may hardly take a step in understanding who we are and whether other light exists. But we can be proud that someday we may have a better answer, and that we were part of the inflection point. And despite certain objections, once we leave earth in a robust fashion I do not believe that light shall die until the fading of time. Which is why we must leave it soon, to avoid even the possibility of universal disaster, the fading of such light.

2023.06.09 19:56 irox28 Canada Wildfires - a planned clearing of protected forests to build cobalt mines?

First heard this theory from another user’s comment and did some research, anyone feel free to piggyback with more info but I found this very interesting.
Recent wildfires in Canada have started almost simultaneously in different areas. Canada is planning to build two new EV battery plants in Ontario. Theory is that there are national protected forests where companies are planning to put cobalt mines, and intentionally started the wildfires to bypass or expedite getting permits for those lands. EV batteries and cobalt mining business have boomed recently.
There’s also evidence that the same could have happened in Idaho, the only location in the U.S. being used for cobalt mines currently. There is a stretch of land called the Idaho cobalt belt where companies have been applying for permits in the Salmon-Challis National Forest. Getting permits to put mines there has been difficult because of previous environmental disasters like the Blackbird mine which decimated wildlife in the area in the 1980s.
Last year in 2022 there were significant wildfires in the Salmon-Challis National Forest in the same area where there is already one cobalt mine.

The area I circled has a lot of protected forest and is where most of the fires are AND is where there's already a few cobalt mines. That’s also where the EV battery plant is going to be built.
▶️ 2022 there was massive wildfires in Idaho including the Moose Fire, which burned 43,226 acres and was 15% contained as of July 29. ▶️ September 3, 2022, five uncontained fires were burning in the Idaho Panhandle near Bonners Ferry, with the fire near Little Pend Oreille National Wildlife Refuge still at 1,000 acres.

That was the case for Trent Mell, the CEO of Electra Battery Materials, a Canadian company that is Jervois’s main competitor there. “America could solve a lot of its reliance issues [with] cobalt in this belt,” Mell told me when I met him one morning in Salmon. “But to do that, we're going to need to be more open and accepting to mining and mining on federal lands.” When I later asked him what he would like to see change, he said that a shorter federal permitting process would be a good place to start. Jervois’s mine took eight years to get permitted.”
▶️ “The ICO is a high-grade cobalt-copper deposit and a partially completed mine site and mill located in Lemhi County outside the town of Salmon, Idaho. The mine and mill site are located on National Forest lands, and activities must adhere to United States Forestry Service ("USFS") and Environmental Protection Authority ("EPA") requirements – the site is environmentally permitted with an approved Plan of Operations. Jervois also envisages constructing a downstream cobalt refinery in southern Idaho, near Blackfoot.
