Is sports washing actually effective?
2023.06.10 03:45 toeknee88125 Is sports washing actually effective?
Has Manchester city and Newcastle's success actually changed anything tangible for the UAE or Saudi Arabia in terms of geopolitical position?
Is there a single person that thinks the UK and US selling weaponry to Saudi Arabia and UAE to bomb Houthi rebels in support of the dictatorial Yemeni government is a good thing because of sports washing?
Has a single person thought it was a good thing Western governments prop up brutal dictators in the middle East because of sports washing?
Has any of these Sunni monarchies sold a single drop of oil more or been allowed to purchase a single bullet more because of sports washing?
What is the actual effect outside of domination of the Premier League related to sports washing?

2023.06.10 03:44 Broad_Natural6241 2009 Ford Ranger joins the family
| We just got this beauty, 09 Ford Ranger Sport 108k miles with no AC and a manual transmission, V6 4.0L . Has little rust in some areas but overall is clean. Did an oil change already, the only thing that I started to notice, sometimes it’s really difficult to go into 1st gear, sometimes 2nd gear. This is only when I am on a complete stop, if I’m driving slow no issues. I was planning to service the transmission but I don’t know what else can be. Any advice? Other things to check? This is a 2WD version, I’m not planning to daily drive it just local errands. Thanks 🙏 submitted by Broad_Natural6241 to fordranger [link] [comments] |
2023.06.10 03:39 5thAvenueParking7244 General recommendation for someone looking to rebuild a bike to learn?
I will have quite a lot of free time this coming fall and winter and I've been an avid motorcycle rider for about 25 years. I can do the basics like change my oil, brakes, etc, but I've never rebuilt an engine, carb, or mounted a transmission or anything of that nature. I'd like to rebuild a bike as my fall/winter hobby so that I can learn. I'm thinking a harley because it feels right and I don't have a cruiser anymore (1200 gs now) and I'd like to have one that I "built"/rebuilt.
Do you have a recommendation on why that might be a bad idea and maybe an import would be better, and if not, do you have a recommendation on what kind of motor / harley model would be good for learning on? Something that will be nice and reliable when finished, but not too overly complicated to dive into. I have rebuilt and restored 1980s models John Deere lawn tractors so I'm not complete foreign to the general ICE concepts, just nothing as complex as a motorcycle.

Hello fellow fiesta owners! 1.6tdci owner with 80k on the clock. Is there anything I need to lookout for with these? The Facebook community group is crap for fiestas unless you're looking to make them all look like an ST 🤣 Came without history, did an oil change and the oil coming out is clean. I've been told the belt has been done but I think I'll change it close to the 100k mark anyway.

2023.06.10 03:29 Neverknowthefeel I'm not losing weight no matter how hard I try.
Back when I was younger I was easily able to lose weight. I can eat my weight in food and still be fine.
After turning 28 things changed. I started to easily put on weight and much harder to lose.
I'm 5 ft 10 and weigh 185 lbs.
I jog/walk everyday for about 30-40. About 3.1-4 miles a day
I have a cup of coffee in the morning Maybe a hotdog in the afternoon. But usually don't eat till dinner.
For dinner I eat about 1.5 cups of rice and one chicken breast with hardly any oil.
I don't drink, but will occasionally have a straight bourbon.
Am I doing something wrong? Should I cut rice and have a slice of sandwich?

2023.06.10 03:21 dustbus Car shook when stopped at a light, all the lights came on, and couldn't move. Restarted the car, and no check engine light. What's the issue?
2010 Subaru Forester 103k miles. Last year I got a P0301 code and changed my spark plugs. I put less than 10k miles since, and got my timing belt and oil changed 3k miles ago. Recently my car started to shake when starting and I got a check engine light with a P0301 and P0302 code, but it suddenly disappeared. Recently, I was at a stop sign, the car shook a bunch, some lights came on, and then everything was fine. Then today, I was at a stop light, and the same thing happened except I couldn't move and the car was stuck in place. I put in park, turned the car off, and turned it back on and was able to get it moving again, but there is no check engine light.
I'll try changing the spark plugs again but can you think of any other issues? I kind of suspected that they overfilled on oil, but my dipstick is not very good at reading oil levels, but I feel like I would have known earlier since its been about 3k miles since I got it changed.

Pretty basic stuff… oil changes, new brakes, radiator and brake flush. Preferably by near south side, Bridgeport, little village, Pilsen, Cicero/Berwyn, but open to all places if they’re good and not a dealership.

2023.06.10 03:14 PBGSolar97 Please help. I’m basically clueless about cars and could use some insight with what I should list my car for
Hello redditors, I’m on mobile so I apologize if this comes out funky.
We’re selling my gfs 2015 Chrysler 200. It’s a salvage title from a trusted family friend who they have been getting cars from for over 2 decades. It has 149,000 miles on it and the only damage is some minor scratches on the roof. Leather interior with heated seats, power seats and windows, front wheel drive, kept up with maintenance and oil changes. We put about $3,000 into electrical work and I think a transmission valve last year? Only work it needs is new brakes/rotors a heat shield and the suspension will probably need to be replaced in the next couple years. Other than that, it works like a charm and there has never been any major issues (aside from what we fixed last year) since being rebuilt. It has crash detection, cruise control, lane assist, drivers assist, parking assist and backup camera. Sorry if this is limited info but I really don’t know much about cars let alone how to sell one lol. Any insight would be greatly appreciated! We’re located in south Florida if that means anything.

| I love this bike to death and heard reddit can help. I did quite a bit of stuff to it and one of those were trying to change the clutch plates on it. Well apparently i didn't have the special tool that takes the pressure plate off so i decided to just put it back to together and had a little trouble figuring out how to but after day 2 (today) i put it all back plus oil. Went to start it and feels different when you kick it, let it warm up and took it for a ride and it shifts differently from before. 2023.06.10 02:45 Creative_Risk_4711 Replacing shock oil with foam
This may be a wierd question but something I've thought about. Why not change our shock oil with foam? No more leaks and you can get foam in various densities?
For those of use who are just bashers and not racers why not?
What I'm thinking is a piece above and below the piston?
I can't be the only one to think of this. Have any of you tried it?

2023.06.10 02:42 Novemberx123 Could I have damaged my car by not following maintenance?
I got this 2016 Honda fit at 110k. It is at 170k now. I’ve only ever done oil changes, tire changes, and replace breaks. I just recently replaced the serpatine belt, transmission fluid change, coolant flush, break flush and cabin filter and engine filter. Those filters were the dirtiest things I’ve ever seen. Before I did this, the car would drive rough like when it switched gears, I would feel it “pull” a little bit and I just thought it was because the amount of miles on it. Now that I’ve done these things and got new filters, it drives like I’ve never felt before. I don’t even feel it switching gears anymore. I’m just worried that driving it for 60k miles without much maintenance except oil changes might have damaged it a little. Is that possible? I’m definitely going to follow the maintenance from now on. For once in my life I finally have a list of all the maintenance I need to do thanks to a mechanic on here I just hope I didn’t do any damage..

So I just got CBD oil and it’s got a list of terpenes, I was wondering if CBD oil from a stativa strain would have different effects than CBD from an indica strain, due to differences in terpenes? And do terpenes themselves change the effects of CBD?

2023.06.10 02:37 Crazy_rose13 How to find a good and honest mechanic near me
So idk if I should actually post this question in this sub or not, but I want to find a mechanic in my area who won't screw me over as a broke female. Couple of years ago I had CarX do some work on my car because my mom had trouble with a couple mom and pop shops and I thought going through a big business would be better. I had them change my oil pan since my drain bolt was stripped and they told me my rear main seal broke and turned out they glued one of the gaskets for the oil pan INSIDE the oil pan which is why my car was leaking oil and wanted me to pay an additional 3000$ to fix something that wasn't even broken to begin with after paying for almost 5000$ in repairs and normal maintenance. My car sat for over a year thinking I needed to replace the rear main seal when in actuality all I needed was ANOTHER oil pan. I kinda want to find a mechanic that would actually go over my car with me and show me exactly what is wrong, how they would fix it, ect. But I feel like no one would be willing to do that because I sure as hell know I wouldn't want someone to go over how I weld and explain in grave detail the entire process just so I could potentially have the chance to do the work. Idk I'm at a loss and don't know how to go about this. I don't trust someone not to fuck up my car anymore and I don't think I could just take someone at their word anymore when it comes to my car which is why I want someone to go over the issues with me physically. I know enough about my car for the basics and I own a mechanic manual for my car but I'm not that knowledgeable on what issues there are and I'm terrified of trying to fix it myself and doing something wrong since it's my only mode of transportation and if I screw it up I'm fucked. Any idea how I would go about finding a good mechanic in my area?

2023.06.10 02:32 1m_Just_Visiting So…weird one here. Anyone had the valve seal TSB done, then experience their car not wanting to shift passed 4th under heavy load?
So this is a weird one. I had the valve seal TSB done on my 2021 6 2.5T in March. It had about 33k on it at that time. Never had any issues with the car. I did experience the “low oil level” problem twice. Once from brand new when the car had about 4K miles on it. Got the oil changed the next day (this was in July of 2021 before Mazda knew about the issue) and once again in February. Got the oil changed immediately. The TSB was done the next week.
Now here’s the weird part. I know it sounds like the typical “ever since you…” story. But…it is. Ever since the TSB was done, my car absolutely refuses to shift past 4th gear under heavy acceleration. Literally hits a wall like it’s limited.
The situation is this: I have about a 3 mile somewhat urban drive through town until the start of a rural highway. Traffic is usually decently heavy. As soon as the surface street turns into the highway, I’ll generally get on it a bit and get up to speed and try to get some space between me and surrounding cars. Plus, it’s a decently zippy car, and it’s fun to play around a bit. I don’t beat on the car otherwise, and this is generally the only time I do any “spirited” driving. In the past, I’d get on it and it would GO. Sometimes I’d be doing 90mph before I realized how fast I was going. Very quick mid-range.
Ever since the TSB was performed, I’ll get on it at the start of the highway, and when it hits about 75-80 mph the acceleration stops literally like the engine is limited. I can put my foot to the floor, and the RPMs refuse to climb any further, and hang right around 4,500-5,000, right before it should be shifting. I have to take my foot completely off the accelerator for a good second, then reapply. Then it usually continues as if nothing happened. It just starting happening one day and hasn’t stopped. It’s never an issue during normal driving, but I could see this being dangerous in a passing situation.
Has anyone else experienced this? I think I’ve narrowed it down to not wanting to shift out of 4th. And recently it’s gotten worse, where it takes 3-4 lift and reapplication cycles of the accelerator before it will go again.
Nothing else about the car has changed. Runs great. I maintain it right down to the T of the maintenance schedule. The acceleration hasn’t changed at all, it just hits a wall when it gets to that point. Then after it gets passed it, it’ll accelerate like crazy again.
I always remote start the car before driving it. So it runs for 5-10 minute before driving (CNY winters and spring are cold.) Plus then I drive about 3-4 miles through stop lights and stop and go traffic before I hit the highway. So the car is up to temp by that point even on the most frigid days. It’s done it whether it’s cold out, warm out, started beforehand or not. Doesn’t change.
I’m apprehensive to bring it to the dealer for obvious reasons. How am I supposed to 1. Admit it happens at speeds approaching or exceeding 80mph. 2. Expect them to try to replicate it by going out and romping on it up to 85-90mph. And 3. They’ve failed to replicate a few issues in the past and I just have no faith in them fixing normal issues, let alone this strange one.
Regardless of the legality of the speeds, it’s an issue the car should not be having, and did not exhibit before.
It currently has about 37k on it and is just shy of 2 years old.
Anyone else experiencing anything similar?

2023.06.10 02:28 TexasRanger6455 Starting to Despise My Co-Dependent Wife
My wife (45) is extremely codependent on me (41). It's always been this way, but has gotten worse over our 15 years together. The best way I can describe her is like a 45 year old child with a college degree. I love her very much, but my feelings of resentment over her grow by the week. I never knew much about co-dependency until I found this Reddit sub - I always called my wife needy or clingy.
She can't do much for herself, despite being in perfect health. Don't get me wrong - she has a full-time job, but she's been out of college for 20 years and only one step above an entry-level position. I do most things for the household: the grocery shopping, oil changes for her car, do the shopping at Walmart/Target/Sams Club, pick up food, all the yard work, 70% of the inside house work, pay the bills, take care of the cat doing food/wateclean the box/nail trimming.
One of the biggest issues are her dental/medical anxiety. I get it, the dentist and doctor is not fun. I don't have the same issue, they are fixing things before they become worse. I have to drag my wife to appointments over the years, but the last 3 years or so I just let her do it herself because of COVID policies and then my work. Well, she neglected to get her teeth cleanings, and now she now has advanced periodontal disease and the repairs/implants/bridges are going to cost $15k out of pocket (we got a second opinion and confirmed it). It's like if I don't escort her to the dentist or doctor she won't go. I normally wouldn't mind, but I have a demanding job and I make triple what she does so I can't afford to take time off - my job needs me and I have to be there to keep my salary.
She always questions me when I leave the house like I'm a teenage kid, it's like getting interrogated: "Where are you going? Why? Why don't you do that tomorrow? Do you really have to go?" I'm finally started pushing back against this by giving her not-so-nice responses: "I'm going out, I'll be back when I get back, don't ask me again." I know it's mean, but I'm at a frustration point. She's always weirdly jealous if I want to do something with my brotheparents/friends, yet she always declines to go if I invite her (except major holidays she'll go). I would say she has some kind of social anxiety or something.
To sum this up, I feel like my wife is a needy 5 year old child and it's absolutely exhausted me. I don't know what to do with her. I do communicate to her and I'm EXTREMELY direct. "You're being needy", "You're too clingy", "Set up your own dentist/doctor appointments", "You need to do things for yourself", "I want you to be more independent". But nothing ever works. And she's passive-aggressive about it. Say I want her to get her own oil change on her car. She won't do it and eventually it will damage the engine, and she'll know I'll end up doing it myself because of this. I'm at my wits end and don't know what to do. She thinks she is 100% normal and there are no problems, despite my constant feedback that she has issues. What do I do, marriage counseling, people who can teach my wife to break this co-dependency?
