Cta bus tracker

I wanted to take advantage of the great weather this weekend and ride my bike along the Lakeshore. I usually take the bus, to get there, but have never taken the bus with my bike. Is it easy to bring my bike on the bus? I noticed racks in the front; are they easy to use? Thanks! ETA I watched the video on the CTA website, just wanted to get actual user options!

Welcome back to another instance of our community re-watch. After much deliberation (" ") I realized I needed to make some minor changes to the format of the posts. You may skip this part if you want, it’s just a little explanation.
Based on the amount of Easter Eggs, Theories, Trivia, and Observations we've collected in JUST THREE EPISODES I realized it would be better and more beneficial if I start compiling it on an external Doc for easier reading. I’m not changing almost anything, only that the posts should be significantly shorter and easier on the eye.
Docs makes things a lot easier to track, allows for some more customization and I can add navigation tools so people can read exactly what they want with just one click. From now on, I will be linking to that (please know it’s a WIP) and you can access it anonymously. I will still add things here like Trivia and Observations, but only about the Episode we’re discussing.
The main reason for this is how long the posts were getting, my own sanity, and most importantly, the fact that I’d love to focus on Episode Discussion. Which we haven’t had that much of yet. I've shortened the Episode Recap for this same reason, so you are encouraged to watch and drop your opinions about the Umbrellas and which one has managed to upset you the most this time.
tl;dr: posts were getting very long and messy. I'm using Docs to keep track of all the stuff and shortening the post so reading is easier.

Episode Recap - Key Plot Points & Storylines📍
This episode (surprise surprise!) starts with yet another flashback. Following the events of Episode 3, we learn what happened to Luther and how he gained his ape-like body. Seven years prior to 2019, Luther was sent on an extremely dangerous mission by himself (since everyone else had left) which went poorly. To save his life, Reginald uses the same serum he used on Pogo.

After leaving angry the night before, Viktor wakes up at Leonard’s place. When realizing he forgot his meds and will be late for practice, Leonard tells him he 'surely will be fine for one day'. As they walk to rehearsal together, they run into the very pleasant Helen Cho (first chair violinist) who will play a more relevant role later in the Season.
Allison goes over to Viktor’s apartment after their small falling out in the previous Episode. She’s surprised to find Leonard there instead. Allison immediately grows suspicious of him and after a tense exchange, she takes Viktor’s apartment keys from Leonard. Allison runs into Viktor after he's done with rehearsal and tells him about Grace's death.
The two of them go grab a drink, where Allison tells Viktor she is suspicious of Leonard. They both let off some steam about their respective love lives and end up having a sleepover at Viktor’s. He finds Leonard left some flowers and dials him to set up a breakfast date. During this call we get the first official confirmation that Allison is right: Leonard is up to something.

Five is still trying to figure out what is going on with the prosthetic eye and Lance, the shady Lab guy. After Five threatens him, Lance confesses he manufactures eyes for fake patients, as a way to scam money out of insurance companies. He sells the prosthetics on the black market for a double profit, including the eyeballs.
With this new information, Five makes Lance drive them over to the Lab to check the record of buyers from the black market. Would Five have found something of value in it? We don't get to know, because Cha-Cha and Hazel have made it there faster. When Five arrives, the Lab has been set on fire and he is knocked back from the explosion.

Worried about the attack the night before, Luther starts trying to find ways to locate Five by ransacking his room. As Pogo supervises (what was he even doing there anyway?) Diego pops up with the same intention, which leads to an ugly confrontation and Pogo kicking both of them out.
They reluctantly team up and manage to find Five’s van, where Diego finds Viktor’s book that Five carried in the Post-Apocalypse. This gives them the clue they need to find him, as Five took the book from the remains of Argyle Public Library. They make their way over and rescue a drunk, passed-out Five hugging Dolores.

Cha-Cha and Hazel’s attempts to extract information from Klaus via torture only leave them appalled at the fact Klaus is not only not suffering, but enjoying himself. As they snack and think of how to tackle this, Klaus’s withdrawal starts kicking in. Cha-Cha is the first to realize, finding Klaus’ drugs which finally make him crack.
Hazel being such a foodie becomes a problem, because unbeknownst to him, he eats and shares Klaus’ chocolate with Cha-Cha to “torture him” without knowing it’s, well… special chocolate. They finally obtain some info from Klaus about what Five is up to and the eyeball, but there’s a minor problem: they’re both now high as kites.
Making their way to MERITECH, the duo have a small rave as they set the Lab on fire.

We might have a lot of questions, such as \"did they really need to set the WHOLE thing on fire?\" but what we know for sure is that Cha-Cha and Hazel know how to party.
After getting hungry from their wild partying, Hazel & Cha-Cha find their way back to Griddy’s once again. While Hazel subtly flirts with Agnes, Cha-Cha comes to a realization: unlike they were told during the briefing, they haven’t been sent to kill Five because he broke the contract, but because he’s trying to change the timeline.
They return to Klaus, whose withdrawal has now fully kicked in and as a result, he’s having a bad time. Ben tries to help him by encouraging him to use his powers instead of hiding away out of fear of the ghosts. Klaus listens (for once!) and interacts with their victims, throwing them off and leading them to argue.

Klaus takes advantage of their distraction and tries to get the attention of someone. He succeeds, as Detective Patch enters the room and frees Klaus. Not waiting a moment, he escapes through the vent, taking the briefcase in the process. Klaus’ peace, however, will be short-lived. Having escaped the assassin duo and now riding a bus home, he decides to open the briefcase hoping for money but is instead teleported away.

Diego pays a visit to Patch near the start of the Episode to let her know his Mom died (casually omitting the fact that he killed her). He also tells her about Cha-Cha and Hazel’s attack, how the kid Patch is looking for is actually Five, and encourages Patch to “do things his way” for once. She walks away.
Later that day, Detective Patch and Beaman arrive to investigate the fire at MERITECH. She recognizes a part of Cha-Cha’s burnt mask and finds a message in Five’s van intended to lure him to Klaus. Patch heads to the Motel and dials Diego for backup, but he’s not at the Gym yet, so she leaves a message.
Growing tired of waiting, Patch decides to go to the room by herself. She finds Klaus and their arcs intertwine for just a bit. Distracted by Hazel, Patch is shot from the back by Cha-Cha and dies. Diego is the one to find her, which makes this a bittersweet irony: had he not told Patch to “do things his way”, perhaps she would have lived.

❗ There is a small mistake (or is it? you never know) that you notice if you re-watch E3 and E4. When Luther is reading Viktor's book in E3, he appears in his normal body. The caption indicates that this is 5 years prior to 2019. In this Episode, it is established that Luther's mission happened 7 years before 2019, meaning he should have had his ape-like body in E3.

Plots, Subplots, Questions, and Other Trackers 📑❗
Main Plots
The World is ending, but Five doesn't know why or what causes it. We only know that a prosthetic eyeball is involved somehow, and that most of the siblings tried and failed to stop it. Five learns in this Episode that Lance lied to him and he's been selling eyes on the black market, but he is unable to retrieve the file with client names because Cha-Cha and Hazel set the Lab on fire. With this lead gone, what will Five do?
Subplots

• We have confirmed that Cha-Cha and Hazel are hunting Five down and that they are aware of The Apocalypse. We still don't know who sent them, but we finally learn a bit more: we know now that they were told the mission to eliminate Five was because "he broke contract" - but Cha-Cha figures out the acual reason is because Five is attempting to change the timeline.
• Klaus escapes Cha-Cha and Hazel but immediately after vanishes into thin air after opening their briefcase. Where is he?
• Leonard enters Viktor's apartment and is later shown throwing his meds away. We don't know yet what he's up to, but likely nothing good as he is hiding this from Viktor.

Questions

• Cha-Cha and Hazel are arguing in the restroom when Patch enters. So how in hell does Cha-Cha manage to show up behind Patch and shoot her?
• All the Ghosts Klaus sees look the way they did when they died. Why is Ben an exception? Why do we (later) see Ben as a 17 year-old ghost that somehow keeps on aging, despite being dead?
• Following up on the above, could that image of Ben's young ghost reveal something about his death? Viktor says it was bad, but his ghost looks clean. I will come back to this when we reach this Episode, but this is a question to track as it could possible lead to clues about how Ben died.
• If Klaus can see all the people C&H have killed, does this mean he can also see who his siblings have killed? Is this something he perhaps learn to control, but that haunts him anyway? Could this be tied to the why he can always see ghost Ben - because he was somehow responsible for his death? SO. MANY. QUESTIONS.

Discussion Time! 🗣

• I REALLY enjoyed the way this episode is filmed because of the way storylines converge. You follow different POVs and they all eventually meet at a point in common. But due to the lack of communication, each POV ends up with a different perception of what went down, and it also leads to each making more decisions that will only lead them astray. It's the perfect Wild Goose Chase. I'd say so far this is my favorite episode in how it was filmed/scripted.
• I enjoyed the moments of bonding between siblings. I would say Ben takes the cake for me in this episode, helping Klaus despite how selfish he's been. I feel if Ben were alive he'd bring some much-needed sense to the family, and I can see how he was the glue that was holding the flimsy Academy together before his death.
• Other moments of bonding I enjoyed were Luther and Diego with their tough love + both rescuing Five, and Viktor bonding with Allison. She was really trying to bond with Viktor and she's the only one to do this before learning about the Apocalypse. To me, this partially explains their S3 bond and why Viktor doesn't kill her before she resets the Universe.
• I am writing a whole thread of things about Klaus I didn't notice the first time watching, but he truly is a very destructive character. I want to see if he changes in future episodes and I might elaborate more later. I still adore him and I doubt that will change, but it's easy to miss things if you're not paying attention.
• I remember in my initial watch and when we get to S1E10, I thought Cha-Cha was done dirty compared to Hazel who gets a whole story. I feel now that they DID provide a slow buildup and gave us hints about what each wanted. Klaus, Hazel himself and even Diego begin foreshadowing it in this Episode.
• And finally, I liked Detective Patch. I'm not sure yet how I feel about her abrupt death since she added a lot in the short time she was around. What we can learn by now, though, is that helping any of the Hargreeves is generally a bad idea and likely to get you killed (Syd, Patch, and more to come). Also, I am very upset at Klaus for not even warning her! 😤

The youngest of Carrie’s siblings. A quiet and soft spoken transport geek, specialising in bus routes, railway systems and track layouts. He prefers to be left alone fiddling around with his model buses, but is willing to chat with fellow transport geeks, able to spout out large amounts of information about routes and layouts.
His old Stand is a GPS map, which wasn’t Standlike enough so again, rework.

Ability: Rail Grinding
When the Stand is active, Cons can quickly slide on any 2 interconnected rails, whether it be train tracks, tram tracks or even tactile paving by stepping on them. For example, let’s say Cons is being chased on a street with tactile paving. By stepping on the paving, Cons can quickly slide to the other end of the street to increase distance. He is also immune to any traffic on the rails if it’s railway tracks. If there’s a branch then he can choose which side to go like in an infinite runner game.
Cons can also draw rails/paving to slide on using his old GPS map. These rails are created and can be changed instantly as he draws, and can be used by anyone. So for example, Cons is chased on a rail he draws. He can move to one side while creating a new branch that sends his foe to another location. He can even trace out an entire bus route to disorient a foe, forcing them to slide across the route and displace them far from his location (even if they jump off early!), though he mostly uses it for fast travel between two bus stations. (On a smaller scale Cons can draw a circle and force the foe to spin in circles)

My wife and I live in Uptown near Margate Park and we been using Instacart and other delivery services for our first year in the City. We have no car and completely rely on CTA to get around. We need to start going physically to the Grocery store to get our groceries each week to avoid spending so much more money on delivery. Any suggestions on places to get the best deal on groceries? Places that aren’t hard to get to my bus or L?

If feels so sad to have to depend on these things to make decently short trips (but too long to walk). Just now, two bunched 50 buses both switched their signs to not in service at my stop, and I missed a 22 bus because it wasn’t tracked. Who knows when the next one was going to show up as the 22 service sucks. Bike is out of commission bc I don’t want to fork up the hundreds of dollars to fix it after a driver crushed it. Divvy I use sometimes which is nicer, less dystopian, but still the racks are fixed locations. I just wish cta worked better

Within a <10 min walk is the main Loyola University campus, Northwestern University Shuttle, CTA bus lines (Broadway/Clark/Devon), and Red line CTA (Granville and Thorndale are equidistant).
Building amenities include elevators, mail/package sort, outdoor pool (summer only), gym, sauna, bike storage (one-time fee for registration), and valet parking ($100/mo and not included in rent). The private bedroom has very bright east-facing windows, spacious with a roomy closet. Fully furnished with basic furnishing (bed frame + mattress, desk, office chair, dressenight stand and sterilite shelving in closet). The LR, balcony, and Kitchen are shared with me as commons.
About me: I am a female in my 30s. I am currently a full-time nursing student and part-time nursing assistant. I have two cats that are strictly in the living room (no go if you have allergies). I am mostly quiet and approachable, though I keep to myself and my studies. I am clean and expect the same! Female students/nonsmokers are highly preferred, especially if you want to have a chill and quiet place to study/sleep like me! I take the 66 bus to work every day. I've been using the tracker app to see how far away it is, as sometimes it's a few minutes late.
Today, however, I arrived at the stop with 3 minutes to spare. I checked the app, and it said the bus would arrive in 3 minutes. Cool.
5 minutes pass, I check the app and it says the bus is approaching. I looked down the road and didn't see the bus. 2 minutes pass, still no bus. The tracker now has no record of that bus and is giving me information about the next one.
I know I didn't miss the bus, I would have seen it when I was walking to the bus stop.
What happened?

This pledge is a statement of intent. Today we don't set out trying not to drink, we make a conscious decision not to drink. It sounds simple, but all of us know it can be hard and sometimes impossible. The group can support and inspire us, yet only one person can decide if we drink today. Give that person the right mindset!
What happens if we can't keep to our pledge? We give up or try again. And since we're here in /stopdrinking, we're not ready to give up.
What this is: A simple thread where we commit to not drinking alcohol for the next 24 hours, posting to show others that they're not alone and making a pledge to ourselves. Anybody can join and participate at any time, you do not have to be a regular at /stopdrinking or have followed the pledges from the beginning.

Today I want to talk about sober supports, that scaffolding that surrounds you so that when willpower, that flighty and unreliable creature, turns tail and runs just when you need it, you still don't drink.
These supports can be simple things or more complex, but going back to yesterday's DCI, there is no shame in any of them. Sober supports help you grow and evolve.

• the daily pledge here
• sobriety tracker apps (in the beginning, I only stayed sober on a couple of occasions because I'd have had to reset three sober apps and my counter here and I decided I couldn't be bothered)
• meditation
• reading and listening to quitlit and sober podcasts. I like the books that dig into the science behind addiction, and books written by women, especially ones where there is no obvious rock-bottom, just a dawning realisation that everything was a bit shit and it was time to stop, because that was the thing with my drinking.
• catching a different bus home so you don't get off the bus next to the corner grocery that sells that wine you like
• making sure the fridge is always stocked with alcohol-free drinks
• meal planning and grocery delivery so you always have food in and aren't tempted to go to the corner grocery for a ready meal and oh look how did that wine get in my basket?
• reading the restaurant menu and deciding on your mocktail or AF beer in advance so that when you're ordering, there's no hesitation. If the AF drinks are rubbish, go somewhere else if you can, or at least you know in advance that you'll just be on the sparkling water all evening
• sober meetup groups
• sober friends
• rewards for sober milestones (more on those in a later DCI)
• telling people that you're off the booze for a bit, or, if you're ready to have that conversation, that you've stopped entirely, so they don't offer you any. My dad keeps loads of Lyre's AF spirits and different mixers in so he can make me a mocktail, and he knows the posh kombucha I like so I'm not left out when others are having champagne
• medical support provided by a physician
• AA, SMART Recovery, Dharma Recovery, other formal recovery groups

If your current supports aren't working, add in some different ones and see what happens.

Hi all, sorry if this kind of post is not allowed or doesn't belong here (maybe you can guide me towards a suitable subreddit then)
My friends parents, especially her mom are extremely over protective, tracking her locarion, bank account etc and calling/texting constantly when she's not at home. It's gotten to the point my friend is genuinely getting depressed by this, and anxious to where abouts she goes, trying to not go out of bounds. I should add that my friend is 20!!!
She has a car since she got a full license a couple months ago, with one of those apple tracker thingies and she's not allowed to go outside our small town. Even though we had to travel to another town for college, she has to take the bus/train cause she's not allowed to drive outside our town (she actually did it for the last 2 weeks of college without her parents finding out, after she hit a minor breaking point and went against them).
It got even worst after 3 days ago, in an excited impulse we decided to travel to a city about an hour and half way to go bowling in the evening. I was surprised she's actually going to travel that far but she was super excited and serious, saying she's home alone anyways (turns out later her parents got home much earlier). We were 3 minutes away from our destination then her mom suddenly called, my friend got a little worried. Her mom immediately sounded suspicious asking what she is doing, specifically where she is, what time she'll be home etc my friend started to panic and I was just mouthing a location in our town so she repeats it. Her mom didnt sound convinced and asked her to come home soon. Not long later her dad calls and asks the same saying that on his tracker app it's coming up she's in that city. Now my friend went into a full panic attack, trying to tell her dad it must be a glitch, why would she go to that city at this time etc, her parents asked her to come home immediately, she froze while crying looking at me as to what to say, I mouthed and nodded "ok", which she repeated and hung up. The panic got worst because she knew she cant make it home quickly, we we're an hour and a half away from her home. We had to pull over just so she can calm down, but she rang her mom and just told her the truth. Her mom just kept saying how she's so worried and how the road is so dangerous and it'll be dark soon but she needs her to calm down cause she can't drive in distress, assured her she only wants her to get home safely and once she does they wont talk about the whole situation everyone can forget about it. She also kept asking who else is in the car with us multiple times even though my friend kept saying it's just us two?? Either way my friend only has one other friend who was away and my friend told her mom that earlier that day. It was the whole I'm not mad, I'm disappointed talk. But that was just because she knew I was there.
She told me the next day that wasn't the case, she got a whole talking to, her mom told other family members about it and who knows what else and got stricter 'protecting'. Also her mom tracked her through find my iPhone before even calling her so she already knew where we were when she called her. She now has to check in with her mom before she does anything, today we went for a walk, and after we wanted to get food somewhere she had to come home to ASK FOR PERMISSION!! Her mom was about to say no until she saw me by the door, she was not happy about it at all though.
I'd love to be able to help her some way or give her advice but all I can really do right now is be there to listen to her. But I can see its getting to her more and more, I can see how more anxious she is getting. She'd love to move out but she unfortunately can't afford it yet. She feels she's only going to end up going no contact with them when she'll be able to move out, but she's stuck at home for now. She's a great driver and has never done anything dumb like drugs/drinking/not coming home till late night etc that would cause her mom to not trust her the way she does. She's simply the youngest child, the other 2 are away at uni.

Hi everyone,
I am having a bit of an issue with configuring a WireGuard VPN tunnel and need some help with troubleshooting ideas.
I created the diagram bellow for some additional clarity. I have two routers, one MikroTik for my home environment and a Gl.iNet Beryl AX for traveling.
The MikroTik router is set up as a WireGuard server and sits at home. The Beryl is a WireGuard client and is the one I will be using as a travel router that I carry with me and connect to whatever local WiFi I am able to get (hotels, coffee shops, restaurants, etc.).
All this seemed to work fine after the initial setup and I was able to use the VPN to connect to my home network as well as route all traffic through the home network too. Something, however, changed and now I am able to connect to the server, but am not able to reach the internet. I can see that the handshake is successful inside the WireGuard Server, but when I try to connect to anything, the request times out.
I have also configured my phone as a client and the phone has no problem connecting to the WireGuard Server and browsing the internet. This leads me to believe that the underlying problem is not with the Server (MikroTik), but with the travel router (OpenWrt).
At first I thought it might be a DNS resolver issue, but, while I am connected to the VPN, I also cannot ping anything using an IP as well. TCP dump didn't yield any results either. Cannot see any errors there. I'm pasting the relevant parts of the dump bellow too.

Can't find a reason for it to work after the initial config and to suddenly stop working a day later.

Part three of Timil's school adventure, the first day sun has arisen, but first we need to check on his step-farther a little bit (Dont worry, its only snippet, you know how excited children can be when you give them what they want).
I want to let you all know that due to my work schedules, I work 12 hour shifts at least 3-4 days a week, writing comes when I'm not either keeled over in bed or I'm emotionally drained. Even days off I'm still recovering walking 18 miles a day during work or family things pop up.
Don't worry however, I still intend to keep writing this.

“Uhh… That time already.” I could see the rare sunlight peer through the curtains. I moved my head to see the time.
“0700, about that time to get up.” I hit the snooze button and laid there staring at the ceiling, thinking about the day ahead, about what may happen.
The children may be overwhelmed when we get to the museum, a place like that was unheard of during the Federation. I need to be cautious, more than likely at least one of them might faint.
There will also be plenty of other humans about, I need to keep an extra eye out, I know some are still upset about seeing former Federation species here on Earth. I definitely need to keep an ear out for Timil’s Venlil friend Maxil, he was anxious about new environments I hope he gets better by the end of this trip.
I decided to begrudgingly get out of bed, groaning from my back pains people my age were getting and headed for the bathroom to freshen up. It's going to be a fun day today, I can feel Timil’s excitement from here.

I looked at the time after getting ready.
“Sweet, only took half an hour, plenty enough time to get a coffee before everyone else comes down to the cafeteria.” I made my way downstairs; I could hear the children getting ready for the day. Ok, maybe not enough time. I did tell them to be ready to leave by nine o’clock, but this is early, they must be really excited to get up at this time.
As I made my way down into the cafeteria, I saw Miss Hiten the Gojid already sat down at one of the tables. “Morning Jura, enjoying the tea and newspaper I see.”
“Good waking Frank, how are you this paw, are you ready for today, you know you’ll be taking the lead on this.” She replied. I chuckled, “Straight to the questions I see, yes, I’m ready. I come in health too.”
“I’m glad, please sit we have much to talk about.” She put down her newspaper. “Seems like were in the paper, can’t believe you species still use these.” If she knew of the plethora of other ‘obsolete’ items, we still use she’ll probably start lecturing the UN.
“Ha, there are still some things that people still like the feel of, plus you can’t change what’s been printed, which I’ll admit does have its downsides.” I replied. “Though, much like the glasses you’re wearing, you like some things the old-fashioned way.”
“Hm, very observant of you, still though, there are some things we still need to talk about, as you do as well.” For the next half-hour both of us talked about what we’ll be doing today as the children filtered down to the café.

By the time we arrived at the museum, compared to this morning, I had calmed down enough where I wasn’t physically bouncing in my seat.
As we exited the bus, I noticed a great big black and white sign that spelled out the museums name, The National Railway Museum, established 1975, that’s over 165 Earth years ago! I was in awe of how humans kept their old buildings, intermixing it with the new, keeping its history alive. Very much what we’ll be seeing today I suppose. I wish the Homeworld did.
“Alright children, listen up.” Miss Hiten hushed all our curiosity. “Today as you all know, you will see the history of humanity’s railways, mostly from the UK. You will be shown how they work and the science behind it, from when they started 300 years ago all the way to today.”
I could see everyone was paying close attention to the words that she spoke, it was kinda funny seeing all the ears of the Venlil, Gojids and Farsuls pointing towards her. Plus, learning how a steam engine works could be useful information later in life.
“When we head inside, we’ll be meeting a representative of the museum who will guide us around the exhibits, so from now on put your best paw forward, understand?”
”Yes Miss Hiten!” We all shouted.
"Very good, now here are your name tags, they have trackers on them so don't loose them."
As we headed into the reception area, we were greeted by a female human wearing a bright blue shirt, reminiscent of the UN blue colour I saw the Peacekeepers wore.
“Hello to you all, and welcome to the National Railway Museum. My name Karisa and I’ll be giving you a tour of our collection and various displays. Towards the end of the day, we will show you various demonstrations and lessons about the relationship and science between the railways, from Earth’s Industrial Revolution to today.”
I couldn’t wait, my tail betraying my emotion as we delved further.
The reception area was sparse but full of people of different species. There were boards with snippets of information telling us about the various exhibits on display.
“There are two main areas that hold our locomotives, the Great Hall and Station Hall, the latter of which we will be visiting first.” Karisa spoke over us.
I picked up the scent of something old, a similar smell to the older abandoned buildings me and my friends snuck into once, that the Federation weren’t able to knock down. The short walk put us into an expansive room, the sound of gasps filled my ears, myself joining the chorus.
And there it was, one of the things we had been waiting for a long time, a human steam train, ornate and sleek looking, I fell in love.
“Any questions before we begin?”
All of us put our paws in the air, eager to get the first question in.
"Yes you... errr..." I could see Karisa narrow her eyes towards a grey coated Sivkit. "Q-Quirrall is it, I do apologise, I'm still trying to get used to your names. What is your question sweetheart."
I looked over to Quirrall, I haven't spoken to her much, but she seems alright.
"Why do you keep them if they are obsolete? Wouldn't it be better for the metals to be used in more modern engines."
That was a very good point. By the prophet, why didn’t I think of that.
I looked back to Karisa, her eyes opened wide, a look of surprise I think, my question promptly answered.
“T-That is a very good question, sorry, that pretty much caught me off my feet. You are very smart for your age.”
We looked on as she postured herself to answer Quirrall’s question.
“Well, until less than 200 years ago, humanity had progressed enough that steam engines were becoming outdated, the UK was no exception. However, as we were scrapping them, some people realised that our history was being thrown away, some wanted to preserve what helped humanity push through to what we have now. Because of this effort, many types of steam trains were preserved all over the world, and some of them still run on preserved railways. But, the majority were unfortunately melted down to be used for the new trains, as you put it, they we’re obsolete. As my great-grandfather used to say, ‘We learn from the past to answer the present, and to prepare for the future’.”
I digested what Karisa spoke of. I thought hard about what she said, I wondered how many used to run.
I know from Yotul history, we were in our own Industrial Revolution when the Federation came, we used steam trains much like humanity did, but not to the advancement I see in front of me.
They all were scrapped and melted down, them saying ‘we will bring you into our herd and make you one of us.’ What a load of speh.
I see why many elder Yotul made their way to Earth and so many human railway engineers came to the Homeworld.
I put my paw up as high as I could, trying to get the attention of our guide.
“Yes you, the very eager Yotul at the back!” Karisa pointed towards me, everyone Turing their eyes towards me.
“How many steam engines used to run, in this nation of course?” I questioned.
“I’d say upwards of 20,000, which doesn’t include the small industrial engines that were under more private ownership.”
What!

As I said at the beginning, I work 12 hour shifts so for me writing takes a bit longer than I would like.
I will continue it, but it will take time. It also doesn’t help that Station Hall in the National Rail Museum is closed but I can still visit (which I’ll probably do on my days off).
