This is honestly the best schedule I can mitigate in order to balance out taking 15+ credits per year, which is honestly insane. Idk if my mental health will be screwed up completely, but I am expecting an academic challenge that my high school may or may not have prepared me for when I'm entering into UF. Obviously, this is FAR from set and stone and some adjustments need to be made as this is far from my official schedule

A couple questions I have are:
What easy Gen-Eds can I take in order to make my life easier?
What will be my most difficult classes and what can I do to prepare for them?
For any current ROTC cadets doing a CS/Engineering Major : How do you balance ROTC and Academics while also having a social life as well?

I want to do ROTC because I have been interested in pursuing a Military-based Career for a long time, specifically one based in the Combat Systems OfficeNavigation Officer field.
Ik it won't be higher pay but I know that I would be more fulfilled doing that than pursing a typical SWE role as a CS major.

Thursday, June 8 — 6 significant news stories
Today ChatGPT read 1038 top news stories and gave 8 of them a significance score over 6.5.

After removing previously covered events, here is today’s significant news:
[7.2] Lionel Messi signs with Inter Miami in historic Major League Soccer transfer — The Guardian
Inter Miami have signed Lionel Messi, arguably the greatest football player of all time, in the biggest transfer in Major League Soccer (MLS) history. The move is expected to kickstart a new phase of growth for the league, just as David Beckham's move to Los Angeles Galaxy did in 2007. With the 2026 World Cup, which the US will co-host with Canada and Mexico, on the horizon, and with Messi now an MLS player, the drive for growth in soccer in the US will reach new levels over the next three years.
[6.9] The International Atomic Energy Agency to increase presence at Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant in Ukraine — CNN
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will increase its presence at the Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant in Ukraine next week, replacing the current team with a larger group when director Rafael Grossi visits the facility. The IAEA has warned of the risk of a nuclear disaster following repeated shelling near the plant, which is Europe's largest nuclear facility. The plant lies upstream from the Nova Kakhovka dam, which collapsed on Tuesday, and the reservoir supplies cooling water to the plant and is crucial for its safety.
[6.9] US Treasury's $1 trillion borrowing plan may strain economy — The New York Times
The US Treasury Department is expected to borrow around $1 trillion by the end of September, which could have negative effects on the economy. The borrowing will pull cash from banks and other lenders into Treasury securities, draining money from the financial system and putting pressure on already stressed regional lenders. To attract investors to lend such huge amounts to the government, the Treasury will face rising interest costs, which will also raise costs for banks, companies, and other borrowers. Analysts have warned that this could create a similar effect to roughly one or two quarter-point rate increases from the Federal Reserve.
[6.8] Philippines enters global trade agreement amid economic promise and concerns — INQUIRER.net
The Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), the world's largest free trade agreement, recently came into effect in the Philippines. This agreement involves 10 Southeast Asian nations and five other countries, aiming to remove tariffs on at least 90% of traded goods and strengthen regulations. The RCEP covers over half of the Philippines' export market and nearly 60% of foreign investments. While the government believes the RCEP will lower commodity prices and attract foreign investments, critics, especially agricultural and farmer groups, worry about the impact on local sectors.
[6.7] Europe approves first vaccine for respiratory syncytial virus in elderly — RTE.ie
Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a common cause of pneumonia in toddlers and the elderly, leading to over 270,000 hospitalizations and approximately 20,000 in-hospital deaths annually among adults over 60 years old. The European Commission has approved the first vaccine for RSV in the region. The US health regulator had recently given the vaccine approval as well. The complex molecular structure of the virus and safety concerns with previous vaccine attempts had stymied efforts to successfully develop a shot since the virus was first discovered in 1956. The vaccine is expected to be available in Europe this autumn.
[6.5] Putin increasingly using the word "war" to describe conflict in Ukraine — Reuters
Russian President Vladimir Putin and other top officials have started using the term "war" to describe the ongoing conflict with Ukraine, a significant shift from their previous language. When Russian forces initially entered Ukraine in 2022, it was referred to as a "special military operation", and media outlets were prohibited from calling it a war. These shifts in rhetoric hint at a shift in the Kremlin's perception of the conflict and could potentially signal a more serious approach in the future. Despite this, the Kremlin has not announced plans for martial law or further military mobilization.

2023.06.07 03:18 PhysicalSavings1520 I don’t think my parents care about me as much

Hello I am an 18f just graduated from high school not even a month ago having family problems that are just getting worse. In high school I was very driven in academic such as full time college in my junior and senior year along with a job during these years. My parents have always wanted me to help out at home which is completely understandable however many of the days I would be exhausted and would always have to study. My parents really didn’t understand this as they didn’t believe that you have to study so much for anything(there immigrants) so they would constantly accuse me of lying and discredit my academics by calling stupid for studying so much. Anywho we always had arguments about helping around although my siblings didn’t help around either however since they are males it really did t matter to them. This got progressively worse once I turned 18 and they started to get much more aggressive physical and vocally. In addition to this I was the only one out of 4 kids to get accepted to top schools and even go to college such as UF,UCI,UCSB,UCD however they really didn’t seem too happy for me and just brushed it off which did take a toll on my mental health in addition to the other stuff that was going on with them as I thought they would finally see that my studying payed off but they didn’t really care. It ultimately got worse around my graduation day when they didn’t even really want to go and were prioritizing picking something up for a friend. So another argument occurred because I wanted them to show they cared at least to go because it was a big accomplishment. But they didn’t understand that. I won’t be able to go away for college until my second year but do you think there something that I can do to better our relationship I’m not going to act like a saint and say I don’t argue or cause arguments however many of these arguments are started because I point out how they favor my siblings and don’t punish them for the same things that I get in trouble. But I think it might be better for my to figure a way out as they have started to physically hit me more often and see no wrong in doing so. Any thoughts?

2023.06.04 04:48 Mobile-Escape-9766 Darrell Brooks. and his Mother and Grandmotherr- a family of deflecting societal vampires.

Darrell's family are experts at benefiting the few at the cost of draining/damaging the people around them, and society at large,
In Grandma "Dr" Mary Edwards example..6 people are killed, dozens, if not hundreds of families are devastated. And thousands of others are in some way, and to some extent, damaged. Including the entire city of Wauchesha and countless other people. While the good "Dr." Mary Edwards and her "mental health couseling/live coach" business benefit from free worldwide advertising and publicity. Very discusting.
And they justify this by claiming to be innocent, helpless, victims of mental health issues, and who knows what else. For example Darell's Mom Dawn Woods claims Darrell was a victim uf an unfair trial that was pre-ordained, and that is why he recieved 6 consecutive life sentences + 1000 years. Yes indeed. Well I watched the entire trial and have seen many articles, stories, youtube channels depitions and opinions and many other things and I think we can all agree that Darrell recieved one of the most fair trials in United State's history.
But in their sentencing statements, both Darrell's Mom and his Grandma again claim that their family are victims because they have lost so much. And it's all a result of Darrell's mental health . The GALL of these people is unfathomable!!! To say such a thing after what there innocent/victim of mental health son/grandson did to cause all this devastation only serves to minimize the pain of the real victims. The truly innocent people who were hurt, maimed, murdered and otherwise destroyed while simply getting together to watch a parade and celebrate the Christmas season.
In one of her interviews Darrells mom, Dawn Woods said mental health victims need medication and treatment when the sympltoms first appear (when Darrell was 12) or else the problem will fall thru the cracks.
Well, Mrs. Woods, your his mom. So why didn't you make sure that happenned? But she never got him help. Not then....not later, not ever. I guess because she couldn't afford it..based on her statement about how expensive mental health care is.
Well, It's probably fair to say (Darrell's favorite saying at the trial), that we all know mental health treatment is expensive. But wouldn't any good mom find a way to manage and otherwise take care of her child's problems in any way possible? Like by getting a second or even third job? And or possibly taking the time to research, knock on doors, or whatever it takes, to find programs or other solutions? Nope,.,she says it is societies fault for not having a better system to help those in need So I guess that means that the Waukesha attack/tragedy, is not in any way her fault or responsibility. It's societies fault- In other words, it's my fault. It's your fault. It's everyone's fault except hers.
And in her sentencing ,statement, Granny said she hopes Darrell will be placed in a facility where he can get the mental health medication and treatment that he needs. Which leads to the question...., if she is as good a mental health counseler as she surely must be to charge $65 an hou2 hour minimum for over the phone mental healh coaching, why didn't she help to manage Darrell's "mental health problems" before all this happened? And why can't she manage them now-insead of again relying on societies penal system. Which is funded by you guessed it....you and me. In other words, even after all the kaos, carnage, and destruction Darrell caused, his family won't take any responsibity...nope!!! They want society-you and me- to do all the work.
This is just another example of self-induced victimization and deflection of personal responsibility. To put it simply, and Iknow this is a big pill to swallow; these people are vile and otherwise discusting leaches of society. Who simply steal to deposit into their emply/black hole lives, as much of the goodness from the world around them, that they possibly can.

What is the best water purifier for home use?

Ensuring Safe Water Supply: The Need for Home Water Filtration Systems

Access to clean and safe drinking water is essential for the well-being of individuals and families. Unfortunately, the water supply for many households falls short of meeting the required standards. Tap water, treated in factories, often contains chemicals such as fluoride and chlorine, while well water harbors iron, metals, and organic substances that are detrimental to human health. To address these concerns, it is imperative to explore the necessity of implementing home water filtration systems as a means of ensuring safe water for domestic use.
Tap Water Quality Concerns:
Tap water, which is supplied to households after undergoing treatment processes at factories, can contain several chemical components. One of the most common additives is fluoride, which is added to prevent tooth decay. However, excessive fluoride consumption can lead to dental fluorosis and skeletal fluorosis, posing a risk to the overall health of individuals, especially children. Chlorine is another chemical compound commonly used in water treatment processes to eliminate harmful microorganisms. While chlorine effectively kills bacteria and viruses, its consumption in large quantities has been linked to adverse health effects, including respiratory problems and an increased risk of certain cancers. These concerns highlight the need for additional filtration mechanisms to remove such chemical components from tap water.
Well Water Contamination:
Well water, sourced from underground reserves, is often found to contain elevated levels of iron, metals, and organic substances. Iron contamination not only affects the taste and odor of water but can also stain laundry and plumbing fixtures. Prolonged consumption of iron-contaminated water can lead to health issues such as iron overload, which adversely affects the liver, heart, and pancreas. Moreover, the presence of metals in well water, such as lead or arsenic, can pose significant health risks, including neurological disorders, developmental issues in children, and an increased likelihood of certain cancers. Additionally, the organic substances present in well water require effective filtration to ensure that harmful bacteria and parasites are removed, reducing the risk of waterborne diseases.
The Need for Home Water Filtration Systems:
Given the potential health risks associated with tap water and well water, it is imperative for households to consider installing home water filtration systems. These systems can effectively eliminate or reduce the presence of harmful substances in water, ensuring that it meets safe drinking standards. Various types of water filtration systems are available, including activated carbon filters, reverse osmosis systems, and UV purifiers. Activated carbon filters are particularly effective in removing chlorine, fluoride, and organic compounds, providing an enhanced taste and odor to the water. Reverse osmosis systems utilize a semi-permeable membrane to remove contaminants such as heavy metals, while UV purifiers use ultraviolet light to kill bacteria and viruses. By utilizing these filtration systems, families can have peace of mind knowing that the water they consume is safe and free from harmful substances. Learn more: Water Purifier For Home
Access to clean and safe drinking water is a fundamental right that every family deserves. The inadequacy of tap water quality and the contamination risks associated with well water necessitate the implementation of home water filtration systems. By employing these filtration systems, families can ensure that their water supply meets the necessary standards for safe consumption. It is crucial for individuals and communities to prioritize the importance of clean water and take proactive measures to safeguard their health and well-being.

Choosing the Best Water Purifier for Your Home

Selecting an appropriate water purifier for your home is crucial to ensure a safe and healthy water supply. The choice of water purifier depends on the specific characteristics of the water source, be it well water or tap water from water companies. This essay aims to provide guidance on selecting the most suitable water purifier based on different scenarios. Additionally, we will explore the importance of choosing the best water purifier available to meet your household's needs.
Differentiating Between Well Water and Tap Water:
Before delving into the selection process, it is important to recognize the distinctions between well water and tap water. Well water, sourced from the ground, may vary in quality depending on location. In cases where well water is tested and found to be free from harmful substances while containing essential minerals, preserving these minerals is advantageous. In such scenarios, a Nano filter or a UF (Ultrafilter) water purifier is the most suitable option. On the other hand, if the well water or tap water contains significant amounts of harmful chemicals, an RO (Reverse Osmosis) water purifier is recommended.
Preserving Healthy Minerals with Nano or UF Filters:
When the well water has been tested and found to be free from harmful substances while possessing beneficial minerals, it is essential to retain these minerals during the purification process. Nano filters and UF water purifiers are ideal choices in such cases. These filtration systems effectively remove impurities and bacteria while allowing minerals to pass through, ensuring that the water retains its healthy properties. This option is preferable as it ensures a balanced and natural composition of minerals, promoting overall well-being.
🔺 Choose a water purifier by filtration technology:

Addressing Harmful Chemicals with RO Water Purifiers:
In situations where the tap water from water companies or well water contains significant levels of harmful chemicals, an RO water purifier is highly recommended. RO purifiers employ a sophisticated filtration process that utilizes a semi-permeable membrane to eliminate a wide range of contaminants, including heavy metals, pesticides, chlorine, and other harmful substances. This advanced purification method ensures that the water supplied to your home is safe and free from potential health hazards.
🔺 Choose a water purifier by filtration technology:
The best water purifier for home use: The 1000G IKIDE Water Purifier is installed under the countertop and can produce a large amount of pure drinking water by using tap water. Up to 99.9 percent bacteria, heavy metals and antibiotics in the tap water can be removed, as well as up to 99.7 percent organic matter. Drink water as clean as bottled water and live a healthy life!
A reverse osmosis (RO) water filter is not the right choice, if you are hoping to improve the quality and taste of your tap water. The water from your tap has probably already passed through a reverse osmosis filter, but that does not mean it's completely safe or good to drink. Learn more: Reverse Osmosis Filters are Not the only option (video)
Choosing the Best Water Purifier:
Once you have determined the appropriate type of water purifier based on your water source, it is crucial to select the best option available. Several factors should be considered during this selection process. Firstly, evaluate the reputation and reliability of the brand offering the water purifier. Look for certifications and customer reviews to ensure the product meets industry standards. Additionally, consider the efficiency of the purification system, including its flow rate, filter lifespan, and maintenance requirements. Furthermore, take into account the cost-effectiveness of the purifier, considering the initial investment, replacement filter costs, and energy consumption. By considering these factors, you can choose the best water purifier that aligns with your needs and budget.

Selecting the most suitable water purifier for your home is essential to ensure the quality and safety of your drinking water. By differentiating between well water and tap water and assessing the presence of harmful substances, you can make an informed decision regarding the type of water purifier required. Whether preserving healthy minerals with Nano or UF filters or addressing harmful chemicals with an RO purifier, the specific characteristics of your water source will guide your choice. Remember to prioritize the selection of the best water purifier available by considering the reputation, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness of the product. With a well-chosen water purifier, you can enjoy clean and healthy drinking water for you and your family.

2023.06.02 00:59 FogHornicus Here is why you should be proud to be dyslexic...

According to the theory of complementary congnition humans evolved to think in specialized ways which make for better team work...I'm running quickly over this but the two big types are those with an "exploitative bias" (nuerotypical people) and those with "explorative bias" (dyslexics and perhaps other groups, ADHD in particular, but mainly dyslexia and the related dyses - I have them all so I know I'm glossing over that). Exploitative bias people evolved to be good at exploiting or making the most of resources early humans already had (think excel and spelling wiz kids I guess). These were the people most suited to stay in the camp and work out the best system of how to make the most of what their group has. The exploitative/stay-in-camp/nuerotypical people have universally been 80-95% of the population. Society is built around them, which is why we dyslexics have such a hard time.
Explorative bias/dyslexic/go-out-behind-the-wire types could never be more than 20% of a a population but there is always at least 5% of us. Why? We are necessary. Why such low numbers? Because no early tribe or society could risk sending more than 20% out on dangerous missions which must have had sky high casualty rates and hope to make it.
One example Dr Helen Taylor at Cambridge U (a dyslexic who according to The Dyslexic Advantage struggles in ways you'd instantly understand I might add) used was this....imagine a pre-history human group that knows that they will run out of enough food during the winter and a lot of people will starve to death. Those with exploitative bias who are great at maximizing what we have, are clear: nothing else we can do, we must send out a search party or people will die. (Note: this is where complementary cognition comes in - we are made to work well together!). So, who do they send?
These early group surely didn't realize why, but some of them were just better at this sort of a task. A smaller, more specialized group. Researchers say these are the ones that these would have likely been the ones sent out with a vague mission (bring us back something to eat, or people we love die). Why? We're literally designed for it (see below links, books, researchers). It would have been dangerous as fuck, terrifying, they would have had no real idea how they would do...they came up with option but had to be flexible and adaptive...explorative. So these people would have zero choice but to be super flexible - "okay, we cannot find alot of plant food, so we have to hunt some big game, despite the risk. So we can pick off some big game and while some drag that back to camp the rest of us will look for some nuts until you return and then we hunt again." And then the plan changes according to someting new - again, explorative, not exploitative.
So imagine this little society of 100 had 10 such dyslexic/explorative bias people (we are always between 5-20% as proven accross numerous societies and time) and they sent them all because the situation was so desperate. Then imagine what the group would think when only 5 return but they have brought enough food so that 50-70% do not have to starve to death over the long winter - no one will starve now. "We succeeded but Steve, Pete, Linda, Sally and Eric didn't make it they say..." The group would be sad but elated that a more devistating loss will now not happen. It's sad we will probably never know all the details (it's pre-history after all) but something along these lines is would have certainly happened.
Do you think those early societies would have considered the exploratives/dyslexics weak or handicapped? How do you think they would have been viewed? Close your eyes and try to picture what they might have looked like just standing there looking back at you across time. Weak, disabled, pathetic, useless are definitely not adjectives any reasonable person would probably have used to describe them. What sort of people have minds specialized for this sort of thing? Special ed? Sounds more like special forces.
That is who you are and what you come from. Don't forget it. Belief is power. "The man who thinks can, and the man who thinks he can't....they're both right!' - Henry Ford (by the way, Ford was also a dyslexic explorer).
