He also is in a decent amount of credit card debt, although he typically evades the questions I ask about it. He's told me he's working on paying it off, and that's all I know. Over the past year, I've been waiting for him to have some kind of savings. He makes very good money, and after sitting down with him and calculating how much his basic needs + $400 in spending money each month, he should still have over $500 left over. When I ask where the money goes, he just says he doesn't know. Back to the first part of this post, he's very closed off. He's been pushing me away emotionally more and more lately, and although I've tried to talk to him, nothing has changed. Upper management came down on my employer and they were forced to cut back everyone's hours for a few weeks. I only recently got hired so my hours were cut the most. I am helping my niece secure a car. We had spoken to a dealer earlier with an agreed amount of X and 5.4% interest rate. She went to sign the agreement without me due to miscommunication between us. They completely misguided her at final stage and took signatures on multiple contracts with varying rates for loan. One of them at 7.8% and they told her its for precautions but wont apply. The review copy sent with her has 7.3% (not 6 or 7.8%). I think they would try different approvals. IMO the rates are pretty steep.
This is Washington state. I know there is no cooling period. I don't trust dealer guys in this at all. I reached out them and they said this was necessary due to poor credit score of hers. I was mad cos they did not explain these things to her. That is a different rant. They said they cannot help and the loan is already approved. Here is the twist though. The contract with the dealer was signed on Saturday evening and the loan is to approved by BECU. BECU was already closed by Saturday afternoon and opens up only on Tuesday morning. Is there a way, she/I can reach out to BECU to cancel any request for loan under her name? Any direction is appreciated.
Side note : for the 7.3% printout they sent, it says 10k downpayment. She forgot her debit card so could not make the downpayment. She is asked to pay 10k by day after tomorrow. If the contract is to be true, she should have paid 10k right? Can this be leveraged in anyway to prolong since car dealers must secure loan in 4 business days? I do not know if she has signed a contract that keeps 0 downpayment and the rest for loan. She also does not know as they hurried and confused her along the way.
Also is there a way to know if the loan got approved through any online forum?
