So we all know the new season came with some new weapons. I’m gonna do a full review of the lootpool and the meta sometime soon, but for now I wanted to focus on one in particular, the Flapjack Rifle
There’s a few key points but first I’m gonna give the stats (common-mythic)
Damage: 25/27/28/29/31/32
Headshot Damage: 41/44/46/47/51/51
Structure damage: 30/31/33/35/36/38
Fire rate: 6.2
Magazine size: 45
Reload time: 3.85/3.67/3.5/3.33/3.15/2.97
The flapjack rifle is an LMG in real life (the Lewis gun), but in game it’s an assault rifle. That means that Rifle augments work with the flapjack!
The current rifle augments are:
Medium Ammo Required (not only rifles but works for the flapjack)
First Assault
Reckless Rifle Reload
These three make the flapjack SO much better as you’ll always have ammo (it burns through ammo pretty quick), have more damage on first shot, and faster reload for an empty pan
Speaking of, I wanted to remind you all that two or three people with a flapjack rifle is absolutely insane. One person spraying your builds with it is already pretty op, but two or three?
Let’s take just the structure damage of the Rare one (33) and multiply that by 2 (so if you are spraying with your duo at the same time) that’s 66 structure damage. 66x45 is 2,970
That’s 2,970 possible structure damage if you and your duo spam both full mags. Than with said augments, you can bypass the moderately long reload time and keep pressuring people
Don’t forget that’s 1,485 structure damage for one pan. So it’s still insane in solos. I’d even say a little too strong in the structure damage department (at least it’s not as bad as the EvoChrome 😟)
The flapjack is an actual strong rifle. And it’s gonna be meta in competitive/tournaments. Not only that, but it’s pretty accurate as well!
I feel like a way to better balance it is to make it an LMG (so the two rifle augments don’t work on it) and to reduce the structure damage by a little bit
So in conclusion: the pancake rifle is insane and you should be using it. Especially in team modes
Fun fact: the flapjack rifle is probably named Flapjack due to the pan magazine (Pan. Pancake. Flapjack. Get it? )

It is the 4,625th day of Awakening.
I am afraid.
The Elders tell us that all will be well, that the Record we are creating is merely educational — but I can feel in the Firmament that there is a great change coming. I do not know what that change is, but I fear it will spell the end of everything I hold dear, and I am afraid.
Perhaps this is irrational of me. I have little evidence to support these thoughts. The Seers have sounded no alarms, and our people are all healthy. My two sons flourish in their classes. They excel with the Firmament, creating wonders previously unheard of. Perhaps the fear I feel now is simply the fear of an old woman, and yet...
Every day, the trees seem a little more dead. Every day, the sky loses a little more color. I have been to the Healers, and I have been told that my eyes are fine; all three of them are perfectly functional.
I do not know what I am seeing. I do not know why I am the only person that sees it. The Awakening could be the cause, and yet I show no other signs of being Awakened. My Firmament levels remain stable, and there is no hint of a phase-shift or any of the associated phenomena. I have to assume what I feel is mere paranoia, and yet...
And yet.
Only time will tell.

It is the 4,670th day of Awakening.
I have begun to track the color-loss phenomenon. Unfortunately, objective measurement proves impossible — luminal scans exhibit the same loss of color as the objects they depict, making them unreliable, and my own memory is hardly an objective means of measurement.
What I have discovered, however, is that this color loss appears to correlate directly with properties that are objectively measurable. Identifying the property that is affected is hardly trivial, but I've been able to isolate a few undeniable ones that even our best Seers cannot explain.
Which means they have to take me seriously. I have been promoted to Seer myself, though the particular means through which I am able to observe this phenomenon is still unknown. It is one of our primary research objectives
I am... still afraid. But I am also excited. I may contribute to one of the biggest discoveries of our lifetimes. My sons are proud of me, and both are applying to work on this project with me. I am proud of them too, although I have not said it. They have grown into fine young men.

It is the 4,700th day of Awakening.
The Record is still crucial, I am told, though the Elders do not explain why. I do not mind — there is something soothing about inscribing my thoughts into the stone. The Firmament hums as it wears through each layer, creating a resonance I have not encountered before; I wonder if the material for this stone is special.
We have made... a limited amount of progress in understanding the color-loss phenomenon. It does appear that the scope of it is limited. It does not extend outside our city. For me, at least, there is a clear line beyond which the world is bright and vibrant; I had almost forgotten how beautiful a world full of color is.
Everyone I speak to insists the world they live in remains just as vibrant, but they can no longer deny that things have changed. Formerly durable objects are breaking far more frequently, and our technology is not as reliable as it should be. Some among us have called for an evacuation of the city, though the Elders and most of the Seers think this is foolish.
I do not know where I stand on the matter. I think I may apply for leave, however. I would like to see the flowers outside the city in full bloom; I hear they are especially beautiful in the light of our moons, when both of them are full.

It is the 4,730th day of Awakening.
I am, once more, afraid.
We cannot evacuate. It is uncertain the exact moment this happened, but it appears that a boundary has been established around our city — a boundary that matches the same invisible line only I can see, where the world of color splits from the world without. We cannot leave, and we cannot make contact with the world outside. The Elders have long ceased to respond to us, even before the boundary appeared, and I wonder if they perhaps knew that this might happen.
It is suspicious that not a single one of them remains in the city.
The Seers that remain are divided. Many of us wish to search for a solution to break this barrier so that we may escape. Our home is crumbling around us. Our buildings can no longer stand tall. They sag on weakened supports that threaten to collapse. Our windows no longer let in the light, and our mirrors no longer reflect our forms.
There are those among the Seers that believe we simply need to adapt. We can find new materials that have been less affected by the Change and build a new world around it. They are not incorrect, but to get the population to give up their homes...
It will be a hard task to bear.
I do not know why I continue using the Record. I feel the Elders have betrayed us, and I am not the only one among the Seers that believe this. But if nothing else, I wish for my words to live on, and for my love for my sons to live on.
They are both good men. I wish they were not trapped here with me.
I wish I could see the flowers again.

It is the 4,800th day of Awakening.
We have made no progress, and our supplies have dwindled; our crops no longer grow properly. Others report that they have glimpsed, in passing, the world that I see — in the moments just after dawn, when the sun peeks over the horizon and casts its rays over the city. For a fraction of a second, they see a city filled with gray, one that has lost all color and vibrancy.
It is the world I have been living in. It is... difficult. I make regular trips to the edge of the city to gaze into the forests that surround us. It is a reminder of what the world should look like.
I am thinking I will build a home there. At least that way, I will see the world of color every morning. I may not be able to touch it, but perhaps that will be enough.

It is the 4,900th day of Awakening.
A hundred days have passed since the last Record. The decay has grown exponentially — we are no longer able to see outside our city. A pitch-black darkness surrounds us. Everything within, however, remains perfectly lit. The Seers are baffled, and the citizens are doing their best to contain their panic.
My sons have taken on leadership roles in the crisis. I could not be more proud of them. The elder, Juri, now helps to break up the conflicts that have been erupting more frequently between our people. Tensions are high, and I cannot blame them.
The younger, Yarun, has learned medical Firmament techniques, and applies them to healing and preventing the spread of disease. He is a kind man — I have seen him more than once, both as his patient and as his mother.
They both seem so tired, but so determined. I wish their lives could be more than this.

Breakthrough.
It is the 5,000th day of Awakening, and we have discovered the source of this.
It is a Firmament phenomenon, although this knowledge is nothing new. Strange types of Firmament are common, and it is the only thing that could be responsible for such a widespread change. What is less common is for one type of Firmament to be this insidious.
A fellow Seer, Reysha, was the one to identify the particular phase of Firmament. Because I was the first to identify this phenomenon, she theorized that I was especially sensitive to the Firmament that was causing all this; again, nothing new, but nothing we could work with.
But Reysha took it a step further. There is a pattern of Firmament fluctuation within me that appears to respond to changes to Color Drain Firmament, as we have come to call it. She isolated the fluctuation, then inverted it, and created a sample of Firmament that appears to drain all color within it.
With this, we can locate the source. Our Firmament sensors indicate there is something underneath the city emanating this Color Drain Firmament. The expedition begins tomorrow, and I will be on the team, as I am the only one that can sense dangerous changes in this Firmament.
I am... still afraid. But I am excited. I have not seen color for many days, and it seems there may be hope at the end of this nightmare.

It is the 5,002nd day of Awakening.
The expedition failed. There are creatures underneath the city that the Seer team was not prepared to fight. We have lost two of our number.
Uzar and Zenith. May your names be remembered.
We will bring both Juri and Yarun on our next attempt. I hesitate to bring them into danger so quickly, especially when Juri has so recently bonded... I am sure Varus will understand. The stakes are high, and he is no fool.

It is the 5,004th day of Awakening.
Varus and Juri make an incredible team. I would be ashamed for not including Varus in the expedition to begin with, were it not for the fact that I did not know he could fight. With his assistance, the creatures within our sewers were no match, and Yarun was able to identify and counter many of the traps that threatened to consume us.
It is strange. The sewers beneath our city no longer match the plans that are on record. There are dead ends where there should not be any, and areas where the brick appears to have grown into the dirt. There is something about this that is almost... root-like.
No coincidence, then, that housed in the center of all these Firmament fluctuations appears to be a large, Firmament-imbued tree. Its branches dig into the walls of our sewers, and its roots fade into brick and concrete as they merge with the floor.
I do not know what to make of this, and neither do the others. Reysha and a number of the other Seers are analyzing it as I make this Record. We have sealed it off in a containment unit, but the barrier has not dissipated, nor have the colors returned — Color Drain Firmament is more virulent than expected.
I fear there are more questions now than ever before.

It is the 5,010th day of Awakening.
The rogue Firmament has been partially contained, though the process was difficult. We can see the sun and the stars again for the first time in almost a year. There is weeping in the streets. Hope, though small, rises once again.
There remains no sign of outside assistance. No messengers have come to our city borders, to see what has happened to us. No family members, demanding to see their mothers and fathers, their brothers and sisters. It is strange — our people are not so easily cowed. Only the Elders could accomplish isolation to this degree, and I cannot fathom why they would.
It is no matter. We continue to explore the Underground — the root system expands every day, and more and more of us need to be recruited to fight against the color-oozes, lest they break into the city and wreak havoc. Juri and Varus are heading the recruitment efforts, assigning quests to those brave enough to delve.
We have discovered more of the trees. There is no singular source, which explains why we cannot completely contain the effect; more of them grow by the day. Cutting one down lessens the effect, but there are too many, and they are constantly growing. The efforts to establish Delve teams are of great assistance, but...
I do not know. The running theory is that there is a singular source at the center of a complex root-network. A single source is our greatest hope. It is something we can target and destroy, so long as we can find it.
I only hope that we do.

It is the 5,020th day of Awakening.
What hope has grown has begun to wither. There is little to report, so I will use this Record to speak of my personal matters. I hope if this Record is found, it will honor the memories of those I love.
Varus has grown to be a part of the family. Yarun looks up to him, I think — he has begun to train his own combat skills, while developing his talents with medical Firmament.
It hurts my heart that our once-proud city has become a battleground where we must fight to survive. But if we must fight, then I am glad to be fighting amongst the most amazing people I know.
Let my children be remembered for more than their talents. Let Juri be remembered for his love for knitting, though he lacks the talent; Varus wears his sweaters anyway, overlarge and badly put-together they might be. Let Yarun be remembered for his love for books — of adventures and exploration, and his wish to see the stars.
Let Varus be remembered for the joy he finds in painting. He has lost the most, perhaps, in this world we now live in. But he still paints, finding beauty in gray and monochrome, putting together the shades like a masterwork craftsman.
This may be my final entry. There is little space left in the Record. Tomorrow, we dive once more Underground, and this time we will not leave until we find the source. The city's supplies are dwindling, and we cannot afford to hold out any longer.
If there are no further entries, assume that we have failed.

I stare for a moment after I'm done parsing all the text on the obelisk. It's written in a small, tiny script, burned into the stone with Firmament I don't recognize — the stone itself is remarkable, though I'm not able to sense it with any particular fidelity in the time-stopped world of an Inspiration.
Speaking of which...
Gheraa's voice sounds behind me, tired and amused. "This is abuse of the Interface, you know," he says. "Inspirations do not exist so you can stop time and read."
"Didn't agree to your terms of service, so I don't particularly care," I say dryly. "That's what happens when you drag people into deadly Trials."
I finally turn around to face Gheraa — and abruptly stop. He looks... beaten up. The golden lines that trail down his cobalt-blue skin flicker with dark-brown stains, and the smile he gives me is bruised and weak.
I stare for a moment, speechless, before I finally find the words to speak. "What happened to you?"

Hi everyone! I just recently moved back in with my parents. I have a dog that is almost a year old and is very energetic, and about 50lbs. My parents have a senile older tiny dog, probably 15lbs. My dog always wants to play with the other dog and it often times leads to him getting stressed or in danger of getting hurt. My dog isn’t doing it in an aggressive way (she’s never come close to anything resembling biting in a way other than when playing- ever) and has never attacked the small dog, though the small one has attacked mine out of “nowhere” several times and will get territorial over MY dog’s belongings and food. Sometimes however the small one will attack mine for “good reason” (ex: bearing teeth to show discomfort or irritability and my dog ignoring it). When I say attack, I mean an attempt to bite and to do so aggressively and to cause harm. It is constantly, a snap from the small dog once every half hour or so, unwarranted or not. My dogs “playing” is jumping infront of the small one, barking, chasing, and not letting them pass a doorway. My dog usually moves away calmly when he does this (as I’m sure she’s not afraid of him) though comes right back a few minutes later. I think my dog thinks the small one is trying to play if I had a guess. What is the solution to this? I have tried everything I know (“come” command, “stop” command, water spray which my dog is normally very obedient of, raising voice, proper introduction between the two, feeding at same and separate times, outside together, outside apart, being watched for several hours, physically moving my dog away from the other, crating my dog for 10-15 minutes to calm down, etc. there are a few other things I definitely am forgetting). She listens to commands when they are not other animals involved, which is something she struggles with and we are working on during walks. She is an incredibly strong breed and walks for about 15 minutes out of her 2 daily walks (1 hour total) on a prong collar that has been properly fitted to her as well as is used correctly. She is stronger than the 90lb dog my neighbor’s have and pulls like a freight train. I believe it is too soon to have her in it longer than that for another week or so.
I assume it will be far easier to train my dog out of behavior and to ignore when the other dog is nasty out of nowhere because of the other dogs age. The smaller dog unfortunately was never trained because I was too young when it was at a trainable age. It would likely be VERY difficult and frustrating for him at his age.
I just want the least painful solution to both dogs. The prong collar WAS the last resort in terms of her pulling at other dogs and people, which she sometimes seems aggressive about but has never come close to testing it out. That being said, I am VERY hesitant about an e-collar or similar, though I am sure the dog can physically handle it. Several dogs I know were trained like that, but I feel it’s too uncomfortable and can malfunction.

Hey there! I’m going to journey through a classic and share my thoughts — I’d love to know your memories and impressions of this book!
Chapter 1: We begin with Claudia watching a fly during English class. Now, I was never a day-dreamer in school (I’m hyper focused and usually love school) so I loved this little glimpse into Claudia’s brain.
Farrow. Brilliant. I also love the Mixed Up Files and the Westing Game. Wish I read those in school!!
We’re also introduced to Ashley Wyeth in this chapter. Fun fact, I knew who the artist Andrew Wyeth was because my parents had a copy of Christina’s World in our dining room, and I was obsessed with it. So much so that I asked if I could have it when I moved out. I still have it, hanging in my kitchen.
Obsessed with Ashley’s manner of dress. I don’t know why, but something about the description reminds me of Olivia Davidson in SVH. Not the exact same, but ‘eccentric’. I went to a strict private school, and we were barely allowed to wear earrings, so a 13 yo with three piercings in both ears would’ve been extremely dibble to me.
Chapter 2:
Obligatory BSC description of club and members. Claudia mentions to Mimi that she feels like she’s just met someone significant on her life. Claudia gets a job with the Rodowsky’s. She concludes the meeting by reflecting on she doesn’t know what she would do without the club or her friends ……
Chapter 3: Ashley is in Claudia’s art class, which Claudia knows is probably not as impressive as the Keyes school in Chicago where Ashley is from (pretty sure this is a fictional school?) Ashley is very interested in Claudia and her work, but barely talks to or even looks at anyone else. Might there be a more advanced art school in Stamford for Ashley? Mrs Baehr announces the new gallery and art contest in four weeks. (PS I would not know how to pronounce Mrs Baehr’s name if not for Claudia’s spelling of ‘Bear’. Thanks, Claud.
Chapter 4: Claudia sitting for Rodowsky’s, and Jackie manages to spill Rice Krispies everywhere, then lock himself in the bathroom while getting his hand stuck in the bathtub drain. I really like the Rodowsky’s but sheesh. No wonder Claudia wanted to go play outside lol. Of course Ashley, the Rodowsky’s next door neighbor, shows up and implies babysitting is a colossal waste of time. Claudia counters by saying she will enter the sculpture contest.
Chapter 5: Ashley and Claudia sit together at lunch to discuss their sculptures, and the BSC is, well, NOT HAPPY. I mean, I get lunchroom politics, but it’s still painful to see the BSC slowly unravel into some exclusive group. I suppose it is important to note (as Claudia does) that in 7th grade, the club was a bit more separated. But starting in 8th grade, they become more of a squad.
The chapter concludes with Claudia getting to the club meeting late because she was looking at art with Ashley. And thus is the beginning of Claudia losing her nerve and failing to stand up for herself in order to impress Ashley. I’ve so been there lol.
Chapter 6: Side chapter about the Jeff Schafer troubles. Shout out to Mrs Bessar being like, cool, I’ll talk about your emotional problems with your 13 yo sister. Myriah and Gabbie’s beauty school sounds absolutely adorable. Love Mrs Perkins for that.
Chapter 7: Ashley decides to sculpt an inanimate object and gets inspired by a fire hydrant. Claudia asks Dawn to step in as VP (which ….. means nothing) because Ashley is her friend, too …. is she not? The tension brews….
Chapter 8: The tension spills over. Claudia misses another meeting and Kristy writes about “some people” being TRAITORS and getting all snarky about bell bottoms. I mean, it’s no sweater and turtleneck. The girls discuss their annoyance with Ashley, with Stacey stating she thinks Claudia doesn’t like her anymore. (I think it’s hugely important to remember that Stacey moves back to NYC in Book 13. No one knows this yet, but it makes me sad that Claud and Stace lose this time together.) I always think we don’t talk enough about friend breakups. (I know they reconcile, I’m just saying.)
Chapter 9: The club confronts Claudia to see if she’ll make the next meeting, and Ashley remarks that she’s Claudia’s mentor. Uh, ok. Did Claudia ask for a mentor? Who appointed you? And who are you that you can fulfill that role? Sorry, Ashley’s sense of arrogance there really annoys me. I take it back. “With gentle curves and tender feelings” validates her expertise.
Chapter 10: Stacey lays it all out in the notebook. Man, how I wish they’d just hash it out and have a heart to heart. Instead, the club responds by short-sheeting Claudia’s, hiding her junk food, and leaving snarky notes for her to find. I 100% find this very immature and 100% very relatable.
Chapter 11: Back at the Rodowsky’s. (Very little babysitting in this book overall). Ashley again comes over and calls Claudia’s interest and passion for babysitting useless. Cool bro. Claudia schools Ashley on how having hobbies and interests and a life outside of art actually helps the artist. GO CLAUDIA GO. Ashley then makes it about her because Claudia won’t abandon everything and everyone in her life FOR HER MENTOR. Jackie makes it all better by inspiring Claudia for her sculpture.
Chapter 12: Slow steps back to normal with Claudia and Mary Anne talking at the Rodowsky’s. Claudia starts separating herself from Ashely’s grip. How did Jackie break the doorbell?! lol
Chapter 13: Claudia starts putting the pieces back together by making lists to help catch up with school, work on friendships, and decide to pull out of the art show.
Chapter 14: Claudia finally returns to a BSC meeting and apologizes with, well, a cheesy poem lol. But they talk it out. BSC back on track!
Chapter 15: Surprise, surprise, Mrs Baehr submits Claudia’s unfinished sculpture into the art show as a work in progress. Of course it’s great. Of course Ashley’s fire hydrant gets first. So the book ends with some sort of resolution/reconciliation with Ashley and Claudia and the club that …… is never mentioned again.
I really like this book because it seems very realistic when a ‘new girl’ shifts the friend dynamics. But I gotta admit, it’s tough to read how poorly they all handle it! But again, pretty age appropriate and understandable.
On another note, my BSC in the future dream is that Ashley goes to an alternative arts high school in Stamford. After a year of floundering at SHS, Claudia decides to transfer and join Ashley where they cultivate a Rory Gilmore/Paris Gellar type friendship.

Is it normal for an oscillating sprinkler to only put out 1/4 inch of water after 35 minutes?
I purchased these water measuring cups to get a decent idea of how much I'm watering my grass, and holy moly I'm not nearly watering my lawn enough. I placed ten of these cups in random areas around my lawn and these two in the picture were the two that actually collected the most, and this was after 35 minutes of running my oscillating sprinkler!
If it helps, I have the aquajoe oscillating sprinkler, below but I'm using fairly cheap rubber hoses. The thing is that I always felt the sprinkler was putting out a lot of water so I only ran it for maybe 15 minutes at a time. If you look at I while it's running it seems to be working normally. At this point it seems like I would have to run the oscillating sprinkler for at least a good two hours per week to hit an inch of water. 2023.06.10 00:40 N0bo_ Marijuana is ruining my life

The title might be exaggerated a bit, but only in the way it implies a certain speediness in the way its dismantling my life, like one would expect from alcohol, heroin, or a particularly nasty Ex Wife. It is in fact making my life worse, just so slow that I almost don't see the downsides of using it, which keeps me from stopping.
To start, I like to do weed. Eating, smoking, vaping, you name it. Though I prefer to vape or eat it for lack of smell and ease of portioning the correct amount. I like the way it makes me feel. I feel almost warm and enclosed and comfortable, like someone wrapped me in a blanked. It makes life more interesting, things I watch or play become much more real, and food tastes amazing. I'll do things like walk around video game maps of various games and just take in all the small details, such as in battlefield or counter strike. I'll also watch horror movies/shorts, which seems like a really dumb idea but they feel extremely real in the moment which makes for a "fun" experience, in some way. Music as well sounds incredible. I listened to 20 so minute cover of Interstellar on a church Organ and it brought me to sniffling tears, and I just thought it was crazy that simple sounds could have such a profound effect on the human mind, all through the lense of a funny gummy bear.
Yet there are downsides, some of which can be ignored as small side effects of just using a substance. Alcohol, for example, can impair you the day after with a hang over, but people can mitigate these effects by staying hydrated before the fact, or by planning ahead so they can afford to sleep in. Like Alcohol weed also gives me a hangover effect, where I find it very hard to wake up the next day at any reasonable time. I'm writing this at 3:00 in the afternoon after having just woken up, even though I set my alarm for 9:30 AM and went to bed around 2:00 AM. Weed causes me to sleep nearly double the amount of hours I normally do, especially if I take it in high amounts. This sucks because I end up losing half the day, and wake up generally feeling like shit and still tired.
And despite how profound and intense my experiences may be when I'm high, that doesn't transfer to the real world at all. I'll try to play a video game with a certain competitive aspect and get absolutely ruined by any and all players. I can think perfectly what my mind wants to do but my eyes and hand seem to just disobey me completely; aiming is rough basically. Trying to understand anything requiring a modicum of intelligent is likewise a futile task. I'll spend minutes reading a book only to find I didn't understand a single thing it said, and I'll still have fun doing it! I will have great ideas while high on weed, only to find them impossible to remember the next day, or if I wrote them down, find them semi obvious or "faux-profound". It is as if while high your brain feeds you the chemicals saying "this is a good idea!", as if you were having such a good idea, but in actuality you're mind is blank. I've basically decided that I shouldn't do anything important on weed, nor expect anything important/significant to come out of the experience.
This brings me to the end. I'd like to compare my addiction (and yes, I do feel like at this point I can admit that I am sufficiently addicted, since I smoke nearly every night at this point) to a gambling addiction, simply because it is easily grasped in its effects because it is closely tied to monetary gaining and losing. A good gambling game is one like blackjack, where the odds seem to imply that you get more than you give. If this were not obviously apparent to people, no one would gamble. In the gambler's mind, they believe--perhaps subconsciously--that they will gain more money than they will lose. But blackjack is a business. Overall, you will lose a majority of the time, roughly 49% compared to a ~42.5% chance to win on average. Yet the human brain isn't a calculator and sees these odds in their favor, which is their downfall to gambling. I feel for me, I see upsides in the feelings weed gives me, the comfort, but I weigh them more than the time I give up to do it, the unproductivity it brings, the opportunities I've lost because of it. I know deep down weed is a losing bet, it may be a 49/51% split, but it's still losing odds.
Now lastly, as a sort of disclaimer, I am not anti-weed or anti-drugs. Everything in life is a balance between pros and cons. For some, the pros outweigh the cons and a thing (not necessarily even a substance) is worthwhile. I think weed can be fun, and out of all the substances to try I think it is infinitely better than drugs or alcohol (which itself is a drug), it just needs to be taken responsibly and with restraint, restraint I do not have to limit myself to occasional use or just with friends. Any use for me seems to just lead to unregulated use, which then limits my opportunities for the rest of my life.

Recently decided I wanted to try and get back into writing and looking for critiques/ edits so I can get better. Here is the beginning to a horromystery I started to write out of just wanting to put something down on paper.
Teenage Sebastian Krell finds himself in caught in a powerful blizzard. Winds howling and ripping right through his soul. Frostbite begins to numb his fingertips. Every step he takes is excruciating. But still he marches onward. He doesn't know where he's going but still he trudges along. The trees fade into the mountain as walking turns to climbing. Sebastian never found himself to be the most Athletic, and wonders how he found himself in this predicament. Sebastian always perferred reading to sports. But still he climbed forward. The howl of the winds began to sound sharper, like the cry of a ghost, ready to do harm. The mountain made Sebastian feel uneasy, like the weight of all those who died here weigh him down. All after the same goal but Sebastian was not eager to share in their fates. So sebastian continues onward.
After what seemed like forever Sebastian spied an old cave shafts. An old piece of driftwood barely working as a sign hung above. In crudly carved letters identifying itself as "Bastion-Martin mine". Sebastians goal in sight he took shelter from the harsh cold. He collected the branches and pinecones he gathered from the trail to start a fire. The heat breathed life back into him, but he knew he was not done yet. After a short respite he continued deeper into the mine that had been calling to him. His arms and legs were sore, but the mental fatigue of fighting all the way up here, was really slowing him down. Each step felt like it could be his last. But still he walked onward.
The darkness of the mine encroached into all of his senses. True darkness wasn't just seen. The empty silence of all but his footsteps swallowed him and echoed into his heart. The shadows inked up his body leaving behind a numbing cold. The subtle scents of fresh decay invaded his nostril. Each breath came with a familiar taste of dread, lingering longer than he felt comfortable with. True darkness is experienced. But still Sebastian pressed onward. The mine plunged further and further into the dark abyss. Time was no longer a concept that was known. Further and further he traveled into a mine. Certain out of all who tried before, he had come the furthest.
When his journey came to its conclusion, the mine opened up into a wide expanse. The night sky illuminated the chamber before him. The foreign constellation still seemed to comfort him but his gazed was drawn to this behemoth of a tree overlooking a still pond of glass. The tree towered over the chamber blocking out the majority of the constellations. It's leaves golden, not with pigment but with electricity flowing through its veins. The gleaming call had lead him all this way, refilling him with hope and euphoria. The catharsis of a quests end overpowered his exhaustion. For the first time in forever Sebastian found himself to be at peace.
As Sebastian woke up in not a panic but in inspiration, he found himself unable to lure himself back to sleep. Rolling over to see his clock reading 2:13 a.m. He tossed and turned hunting for the peace he was denied. Stumbling out of bed, wandering to open his window. Greeted by the cool October air sebastian gazed into the town of Bastian sleeping right outside his room. Beyond lied the forest that surrounded everyone. Who knew what would be further beyond. Unsettled, Sebastian fought every logical response because in his heart he knew that he needed to be somewhere else. Quickly getting dressed he climbed out the window and traveled onward.
The phone screamed by the bedside of Shefiff John Harrow. Piercing his skull and pulling himself out of the hard slumber he was in. Struggling to open his eyes and read the clock saying a mere 5:15 a.m. "Fuck is this about." He murmered to himself and picked up the phone. "Go for Harrow." He demanded.
The voice of the women on the other end felt like nails to a chalkboard. "Sorry to wake you Sheriff Harrow."
"Don't worry about it. What's the problem Linda?" Not what he wanted to say but it's probably better he waited to speak his mind.
"There seems to be an incident at the old Martin mine. The shift Foreman a mister... Mike Conners called in a ... situation. He's seems quite shook. Might wanna go take a look."
"Can't someone on night shift see what's going on?"
"Not really... this seems to be over their heads. Mr. Conners is saying their are 4 dead bodies."
Jesus Linda, lead with that next time. John pulled himself outta bed and said "Yea... yea I'll take care of it." Slamming the phone down.
John fast-forwarded his morning, waking up with a crisp shower and a hot mug of coffee as he hoped into his truck and sped off. The Martin mine wasn't far outside of the town of Bastion and the police lights make traffic a non-problem. Driving faster than he should have on the dirt roads, his truck felt every hole. Driving through the woods was never John's idea of a good time. Folk say the new England woods feel haunted. John wasn't much for superstition but he has seen enough go wrong in his time to be weary.
Upon arrival, driving pased the private property fence that blocked off the mine, John saw the flashing red and blue lights of an Ambulance. Seems mister Conners was already being seen by the paramedics. No one else was in the immediate area, just a trailer being used as some kind of office and the opening to the mine. Pulling alongside a half dozen of other cars and beat- up trucks, John walked over to the ambulance. Their he saw who he assumed to be Mr. Conners wrapped in a trauma blanket grasping a cup of coffee with both his hands. He was physically shaking, unable to grasp whatever happened to him. Inspecting him was a paramedic In her early 20's under the name of Hazel Briar. John worked with her before, she was new but knew what she was doing.
Hazel must of saw my approach, she peered off of Conners inspection to talk to me. "He's definitely in shock but other than that. No physical injuries. Whatever he saw damaged his psyche pretty good." She paused to collect her words as if to arrange them just right. "Don't push too hard, OK? Whatever trauma was experienced down their... he doesn't need it shaking him anymore."
John nodded, taking out a pack of cigarettes. After shaking one loose he held it between his lips and offered the pack to Conners. The look of Conners was one of desperation, one that wanted anything to cling to. He took a cigarette and John light them both. After a few drags and the comfort of smoke began to set in John asked, "wanna tell me happened? From the top." Despite John's gruff exterior he can be a nice guy. He never liked playing the bad cop. People knew he cared about the people. Whole reason he became a cop. He only really smoked in times like these too. People could feel the sincerity in his voice. And he had a reputation of going against the departments wishes when he knew it was to help someone.
"Well..." Conners began to stutter. The fear in his voice was palpable, like merely speaking the next words would bring about the Horrors. "Me and the first crew came in for the day....4 a.m. as usual. I had some paperwork to attend... I sent the crew in first... I was to join them later." The more he talked the more afraid he was becoming. Reliving the terror one word at a time. "I heard noises on the radio."
"What kind of noises." John interjected
"I... dunno. It's hard to put into words. But it was nothing natural. Nothing good. Then I heard screaming. Maybe someone got caught in one of the machines I dunno. No one was responding to me... I grabbed the first aid kit and ran inside." Conners shaking became more intense. Each word was a struggle for him to get out.
"Take a breath. Mrs. Briar here is gonna take real good care of you. She's the best. You're lucky you got her shift tonight. Imma go take a look inside the mine. When I come out we can talk some more if your up for it." John's word were calming to Conners.
John walked into the abyss, guided by flashlight. He followed the tunnel deep into the earth. The tunnels rarely seemed to splinter. John was no expert on mines but this seemed to linear. Carved with purpose. A destination in mind. Before he saw anything, the smell would assault him. Unfortunately, the smell of death was not uncommon to Harrow, but this was something more. Their was a weight to the smell. As if to keep anything else alive, out. Illuminating the chamber ahead, John was repulsed by what he found. Gore and viscera strewn across the walls and ceiling. Chunks of meat clumped together. No human could be capable of this level of Carnage, but there was no machine in sight. The ground grew soft as the Sheriff tried to investigate.
The Horrors quickly became too much to handle. John vomited up the contents of his stomach. He wasn't squeamish, but this was simply too much to handle. Leaving the edge of the bloodshed, John took a moment to collect himself. Finding the First Aid Kit Mike must have droped and scattered the contents through out the floor.
After several moments John felt well enough to brave the horrors once more. John began to note this was the only chamber he encountered during his descent and there was no tunnel leading beyond. Someone was looking for something. The chucks of meat had just as much ripping and tearing as it did cutting. Not unlike a bear attack, but on another level entirely. After a bit of hunting, John found a divet in the floor. Easily missed due to it being filled in with chunks of flesh and bone. Oddly enough the bones were dry. Not a drop of blood on them. What's more it seems as if some were even sharpened into points and edges. Some of the bones here didn't even look human or natural, hardened elongated or for a lack of a better word mutated. John was left with more questions then answers and he knew it would be a long day.

Three men tried to take their own lives after false rape allegations were made by a 'fantasist woman' who lied about being abused by an Asian grooming gang, a court has heard.
Eleanor Williams, 22, was found guilty of perverting the course of justice earlier this year after accusing a number of men of rape and posting pictures on Facebook claiming to show injuries sustained at the hands of a grooming gang.
The post, made during the Covid lockdown in May 2020, was shared more than 100,000 times online and sparked national outrage, leading to demonstrations in her hometown of Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria.
But she was found to have made it up, with a jury at Preston Crown Court finding her guilty of eight counts of doing acts tending and intended to pervert the course of justice in January this year.
On the first day of her two-day sentencing hearing, Mohammed Ramzan, a business owner who was accused of grooming Williams, told the court his life had been made 'hell on earth' by the allegations.


Mr Ramzan, who was in tears as he spoke from the witness box, said two weeks after he was arrested following Williams' claims he attempted to take his own life.
He said: 'I still bear the scars to this day.'
Mr Ramzan said his property had been damaged and his businesses had been 'ruined' after he and his family were targeted 'in the most horrendous way'.
He said: 'I have had countless death threats made over social media from people all over the world because of what they thought I was involved in.'
In a statement read to the court, Jordan Trengove said the word 'rapist' had been spray painted across his house and his window was smashed after Williams accused him of raping and attacking her.
After he was charged following Williams' claims, he said he spent 73 days in prison, where he shared a cell with a convicted sex offender.
He said: 'Things had calmed down a bit until the Facebook post in 2020.
'This made things even worse for me. There were big protests and marches in Barrow.
'The lowest point was when I tried to end my life in August 2020.'
And a second man, Oliver Gardner, said his chance encounter with Williams in Preston led to him being sectioned under the Mental Health Act.

A Distant Pull is an interesting sniper. Rapid-fire snipers aren’t meta but this one could be incredibly strong to keep within your vault. Collective Action is an incredibly useful buff as it can be applied on any subclass. Headstone gives you some great cover and add control, but I find it far less useful on a sniper. Triple Tap gives you some great utility against majors, bosses, or vehicles where you can continuously crit them. I don’t think this sniper will really shake up the meta, but it does offer some great utility on all classes. Jack of all trades, master of none.
A Distant Pull is not going to be great in the Crucible. You can roll some really high handling, but without Snapshot Sights, some players won’t even look at it, and being a rapid-fire other players won’t even equip it. These snipers are not as dominant as they used to be before their double body nerf and haven’t seen the sun since. Moving Target and Opening Shot will bump up your aim assist to 100 and you can craft this sniper for either 90 range or 90 handling. While it has some amazing stats, the frame and lack of snapshot will just put it under.

Different Times needs Arrowhead Brake to compete even as a pulse rifle. Having the second lowest recoil direction at 52 is underwhelming. Jurassic Green is lower but ends better at 50. With Arrowhead Brake and a CB mod you’ll sit at 97 recoil direction. Subsistence will help you keep shooting at low tier activities, and Outlaw will have a slightly higher utility, but is far worse than Rapid Hit. Collective Action is the flavor of the season, but might catch a small nerf soon. Golden Tricorn is my next favorite perk but falls off with Strand not being able to reliably kill with every single ability. Which puts Multikill Clip as the best damage perk.
In PvP you’ll still have to use Arrowhead Brake and a CB mod to make this even remotely competitive to its competition. Ricochet Rounds gives you a great stability bump and Moving Target or Headseeker are great neutral options. Multikill Clip for some sprees or Adrenaline Junkie if you have some God-nades.

The only problem with this submachine gun is the far too low stability. Rapacious Appetite has literally the lowest stability across all submachine guns in the game at 6. A whopping 6. You’re going to want to bump that up even on MnK. You can drop the stability to zero, but I wouldn’t recommend it. Well-Rounded does give some great stability to bring up Rapacious Appetite’s extremely low stability. One for All is the easiest damage bonus to get as you won’t need to get kills and your low stability will occasionally make crit kills harder, making Headstone less optimal. Frenzy also brings up your damage and reload which really helps out.
In PvP your best bet is Target Lock for the added damage and Encore for more stats. Perpetual Motion and Well-Rounded are also great for boosting stats. I really think you should be bringing up the stability as much as you can while maintaining as much range as possible.

Spare Rations is back, and I am underwhelmed. In order to make this hand cannon work in PvE you’ll want to use Rapid Hit for more stability and more importantly the reload bonus. Kinetic Tremors gives this hand cannon utility in higher tier activities. Vorpal Weapon can be used in lower tier activities against majors but I wouldn’t bring Spare Rations into a GM. Focused Fury will give you some great damage to clear red bars and majors if you wanted to, but Spare Rations just isn’t good enough for higher tiered activities.
In PvP Spare Rations could make itself a small niche. It feels great to handle and has some great sights for solid 3-taps. It will not be able to out-range most of its competitors, but it will be able to comfortably out-handle most of them. Spare Rations beats out Thorn for handling and almost reaches 100 handling naturally.

I am really excited for this shotgun. Cascade Point and your choice of either Overflow or Auto-Loading Holster for Fourth Horseman-lite. You can opt for any of the mag bonuses to hit cap in order to slot in a Major or Boss Spec mod. Other options include Collective Action for a small everything buff, or Vorpal Weapon to stack with your spec mod.
In PvP you’re much better off using a different weapon as rapid-fire frames need two shots to reliably kill from a distance. If you are okay with that, then investing fully into handling and harmony for better damage after a kill would give you the best chance at competing with precision and aggressive frame shotguns.

Bug-Out Bag returns to us. I didn’t love its original form, so let’s see if this is the redemption arc of the century. In PvE you might enjoy a 100 recoil direction, so Arrowhead Brake is the best call. All 900 RPM SMGs are bullet hoses, so I think that increasing the mag size is the best way to go. You could also completely circumvent reload through Subsistence. Another alternative is just bumping up your reload so the downtime between mags is reduced. Flared Magwell coupled with either Threat Detector or Perpetual Motion will bring down your reload speed from 1.86s to either 1.32s with TD2x or 1.47s with PM2x. The easiest damage bonus is Collective Action this season as it neutrally pairs with every subclass. Incandescent works better on Solar builds but can neutrally clear rooms.
Adaptive frame SMGs in PvP are not considered best of their class. Lightweights do the job better and within the same time to kill. Arrowhead Brake will keep the recoil direction vertical and make your shooting experience better. Ricochet Rounds gives a great boost to stability and range, Perpetual Motion will bring up a few more stats. The buff to Fragile Focus has made it an incredibly strong perk, I would look for that first to push the range out to 18.63m with this exact roll. You can get higher range if you prefer to compete more with Shayura’s Wrath or Immortal.

Last Man Standing was an incredibly fun gun back in year 2. I loved the combination of Grave Robber and One-Two Punch to kill everything in Gambit Prime. Discord will be great if you can keep it up by continuously killing things. Swashbuckler will help with scaling up the damage or you can nuke red bars with One-Two Punch. It’s a shame we lost Grave Robber in the update.
In PvP Discord is strong for getting “free” ammo. Your choice of Threat Detector for better handling or Opening Shot for being the strongest perk on a special weapon. There are not a lot of great shotgun perks currently but Discord could allow for some spicy streaks in 6v6 game modes.

Outlast is a great gun with awful stats. Arrowhead Brake is almost mandatory for bringing up the low recoil direction, but you might also want to throw on a CB mod for 100 recoil direction. Flared Magwell would be good for the stat bump and reload speed. Feeding Frenzy is the best for not needing precision hits, but Outlaw is great in the event that you can handle the bounce. Kill Clip is an easy 25%, but you could also opt for solar grenade builds with Demolitionist, or Dragonfly for some better add clear.
In PvP you will still want Arrowhead Brake. Ricochet Rounds is perfect for bringing up the low stability. Rangefinder currently is best in slot and you can couple that with Kill Clip for bonus damage. Competing slightly with Horror’s Least and slightly with Autumn Wind.

Sole Survivor was one of the first snipers to get Firing Line and it proved incredibly strong. Rapid Hit on a boss will keep your reload super quick. Field Prep will bump up your reserves and also increase your reload speed. Outlaw only works on kills so it will be better if you pair it with Voltshot. Focused Fury or Vorpal Weapon are interchangeable because Focused Fury needs hits to start getting high damage, but Vorpal Weapon does less damage but is immediate.
I loved Sole Survivor. My roll has over 800 PvP kills. The reprisal lost Opening Shot which immediately kills this sniper for me. It was introduced with Mercurial Overreach which I think was the PvP sniper Bungie wanted people to grind for, but I am upset I can’t use my old one and the new one doesn’t have the same perk pool. The best roll to get is with high handling and Snapshot. Eye of the Storm is the best in slot here.

Targeted Redaction has a subpar perk pool. You can make this hand cannon work with Outlaw for faster reloads and your choice of fourth column perk. Collective Action gives you great damage without having to spec into any specific subclass. Destabilizing Rounds is fun with stacking void debuffs. Explosive Payload will help mitigate some damage fall off, which helps hand cannons in higher level activities, it also adds some outgoing flinch. I would probably take this perk last as other perks will be better overall, but it does help in PvE.
In Crucible there is a small problem with this hand cannon, Behemoth Titan, and Collective Action. If you use this, you know who you are, you’re going to get Collective Action Nerfed.* I hope it stays a 20% bonus in PvE, but it could be reduced there due to the PvP side. For a more neutral 120, Well-Rounded and Keep Away will bump up your stats and make this hand cannon feel a little less like a truck flailing in the wind when you use it.

I was always a fan of the way this sword looked in PvE. It felt sleek and was the closest my Titan and Warlock got to the Wee-a-boo sword. Jagged Edge and Swordmaster’s Guard will give you the best damage and most often heavy attacks, if you prefer different play styles with swords either using them as your main add clearing weapon through Incandescent or as less of a boss killer you might want to use Burst Guard or Enduring Guard for your build.
In PvP the only perk that truly matters is Tireless Blade for the most sword swings per kill. Valiant Charge is fun and unpredictable but can also set you up for bad positioning. En Garde can set you up for a super kill. Niche but worth knowing.

Thin Precipice is much more of a multi kill weapon, but falls off because it’s a sword. If swords were more utilized in content it could be really fun with Chain Reaction for explosions, or your choice of Golden Tricorn or Collective Action for some really solid damage. You could potentially set up Thin Precipice for huge damage with surge mods and two stacks of Golden Tricorn to melt champions or even bosses. It’s niche and would require more set up than your average boss killing weapon, but it would be crazy to see/
It’s going to be a similar story to Just In Case for PvP. Unfortunately you have to make a choice this time. Either Valiant Charge or Tireless Blade. Personally I think Tireless is the best choice but I know people like harnessing their inner Sanic. Chain Reaction could potentially net you some double kills. Zoom in, get a double or more? I can see the montage now.

SPIDER-MAN (BIG TIME)
After losing his job as a photographer, Peter Parker took on a new role as a research scientist and engineer at Horizon Labs. There, he developed a new Spider-Man suit with upgraded tech, including a green camo mode that made him invisible to visual and audio means and a red anti-sound mode. Spider-Man utilized the updated suit to defeat the Hobgoblin and a new villain named Massacre, who was terrorizing the city.
Spider-Man (Big Time) swings onto the new Infestation team as a big-time Controller with high Health and Focus stats. He's the lynchpin of the team and is extremely powerful on War Defense. When he's with his full Infestation team, Spider-Man (Big Time) gains a Charged, which grants his Ultimate Ability a myriad of battle-changing effects, including applying 2 turns of Disrupted, Trauma, and Blind to all enemies, along with flipping all of their positive effects and stealing up to 2 Ability Energy.

I have an almost 4 year old girl, her hair is almost to her butt and it's not fine but not thick either, in the middle I'd say but leaning closer to finer than just even middle, and I swear all this child has to do is THINK about getting a rats nest in her hair and it happens. I put her hair up but never fails that she will take it down shortly after, unlike me..she would rather have her hair down. I've got 2 questions..what detangling products for in bath and out work the best? I've always used Suave detangling spray even on my hair and WET brushes, detangling brushes/combs so I use those with her as well, I've also used the "oh so soft" spray from Walmart after a bath and the RAW kids leave in conditioner from Target along with the whole line of bath time products. Is there anything better for everything? And how do I get her to keep her hair up when it's necessary?! Send help before I pull my own hair out while brushing hers 🤣

2023.06.09 22:28 mycabbageess I can't figure out how to forgive my parents, if I even should.

This is going to be long, so bear with me. When I was around 8-11 years old (don't remember exactly), I went to India where a much older cousin of mine sexually assaulted me. I told my mother shortly after coming back to the states and she advised me to never tell anyone, not even my father. I listened to her. The following years, we would still go to India and I would still be forced to see and spend time with that cousin. The only measure of protection I was given by my mother was ensuring I don't sleep directly beside him at night. For the next 11 some years, this would continue (we went to India every other year or every year for around 2 months at a time).
When I started college, I got my first boyfriend and these issues started to resurface. I opened up to him about it and he encouraged me to tell my father about, whom I had not told since the incident had occurred (as my mother had advised me). When I finally muster up the courage to tell my father, he tells me my mother had told him a few months prior. Turns out she had told him and didn't think it necessary to talk to me about it first. I was 19 at the time. They BOTH did nothing. I thought if my father knew he would surely go to India and fight this cousin and his dad too (this uncle is a HUGE asshole also, for several reasons). But nothing came of it. I told my father that all I wanted was to never see him again, and he agreed. But lo and behold, a couple years go by and I was forced to visit India and see him again. My father never kept his promise.
I am now 25 and living in a different country to pursue my PhD. Before my course started, I gave my father an ultimatum that he needs to take some action on this. I also told him that I was planning on cutting off my relationship with the cousin and his family with or without his permission. He assured me that he would have a conversation about this long over-due issue. I was happy, finally he was going to do something about this, for ME. Well, I guess I was naive because he ended up being a coward. My uncle had apparently gotten a cataract surgery a few weeks prior to my father visiting him. My father told me he felt like his brother was going to 'die before his eyes of a heart-attack' if he brought the issue up. I was livid. I couldn't even yell, I was so frustrated I just broke down. To me, this was a pathetic excuse, and it was yet another occurrence where my parents failed to protect me and stand up for me.
I held up my end of the deal and broke off my relationship with my uncle and his family (which includes this cousin). My father was upset because he told me he would've liked to 'at least talk about it before'. Talk about what? I told him how it was going to go. My relationship with my mother also became rocky because for all those years, she told me to keep my assault a secret. I recognize there are a lot of cultural factors at play here, as my parents are Indian immigrants and I am first generation Indian American. I learned how to use my voice, process emotions, and express them too. My parents were only taught to respect elders and to not 'disrupt' society in its ways and values. But still. I cannot bring myself to forgive them. I've tried therapy (although I haven't found a great match yet) and I meditate/practice mindfulness to keep my mind from spiraling into angry and disdain for my parents whenever I think of them. I keep putting myself in their shoes and wonder how they can let something this horrible happen to their child and CONTINUE to place them in danger by taking them to the perpetrators home MULTIPLE times.
Every time I bring this issue up with my parents, they are silent, as if they have nothing to say. I know they are ashamed. They have also apologized (but only after I told them that they should, mind you). I have gone almost 0 contact with my father and talk to my mother every now and then (but we mostly avoid talking about this issue). It's completely changed our relationship and made it awkward and forced. We don't agree on most things and it feels like there's nothing to talk about other than the usual gossip my mother has going on. I look longingly at my partners relationship with his family and wish mine was healthier. I'm torn between wondering whether I should bother trying to better our family or forget about trying altogether. And I wish things were different. I really really do. My life is great in many ways, and I have friends and a sister who care for me, but I wish my own parents were there for me.

TW. Growing up I was never a very outdoors-y type, usually passing the time in my room with my growing stash of toys. Beanie Babies were my favorite. My parents were avid collectors and for my 7th birthday my mom generously gifted her favorite bear to me, a silly little family heirloom that meant the world to me as a child. Rarely did I ever leave the house without it. That’s why when a family member began assaulting me, I only asked his permission to hold the bear whenever it took place. Because I didn’t yet know how to use my voice, didn’t know how to set proper boundaries, my mind turned to the one source of comfort I could cling to. As small as it was, it’s a gigantic reason I survived. Because rather than blankly disassociate I focused on the bear the whole time and the calm it represented. My mom always blamed herself for not being there when it happened, but in a symbolic way she did save my life through that gift.
Flash forward about 12 years and my stuffed animal collection is still going strong haha, but it kickstarted my appreciation for my pets and nature too. I’ve felt true love from animals, the opposite of when I felt like I was just a body, being subjected to “love” the way my abuser claimed to love me back then. If there’s one silver lining I can take away from this horrific experience, it’s that it’s managed to bring me closer to my family and to my world in that way.

When it comes to disarming these characters' traps, we've already faced both extremes:
the survivors could only disarm the bear traps with toolboxes and the Hag's with a flashlight, which was too strong for the killer, although the Hag's case allowing a second survivor to join the chase disarm her traps;
we are currently in the scenario where the survivors just need to click on the trap and poof! Goodbye M2 I sacrificed time and perk slots to set up!
So I thought, why aren't there special items on the map to disarm the traps? Even if they were a Ctrl C Ctrl V of vaccines? It would be a perfect middle ground for both sides! Make special items to disarm the traps appear on the maps (and respawn after x uses equal to the Singularity item), for the Trapper the survivors could receive a crowbar and finally a decent animation for the action of disarming the trap and for Hag a spellbook or an old skull that survivors use to erase her magic in an exorcist Supernatural vibe.

A couple of college kids stumbled in, trying to hide the fact that they were obviously stoned out of their minds, and retrieved a pickup order. I watched as they clumsily staggered out the door. One of them held it politely for a small old lady. An old lady wearing a shawl. She didn’t utter so much as a thank you, beelining up to the register with purpose. I was exhausted, up well past my normal operating hours, so I had completely forgotten about the rules. Big mistake.
The woman glowered up at me, face obscured from view. Her head covering was black as well as the rest of her outfit, not unlike a ninja you’d see in a movie. The aura she radiated frightened me, but not enough to release me from my sleepy haze.
“Hello, how can I help you?” I yawned, lazily covering my mouth.
The woman didn’t move a muscle. She scowled at me, yellow reptilian eyes piercing my psyche and sending my heart into overdrive.
“Ma’am? Would you like to order something?”
Nothing. The longer we continued our staring match, the more sedated I felt, and not just due to the lack of sleep. She had some sort of strange pull over me. I nearly nodded off, my mind wandering back to the instructions.
Before I passed out, I murmured, “where’s Tony?”
Suddenly, I was released from my trance and the woman was nowhere to be found. Like she had simply vanished into thin air. My eyes widened. That was close. Too close. I trudged to the sink and splashed some cool water in my face, then poured myself a large cup of coffee. I knew it would probably keep me up well past closing, but hey, if it helped me avoid another incident like that, I was all for it.
I had just finished dumping the dustpan into the trash when I felt it. A peculiar sensation crept over me like bugs crawling on the back of my neck. I was being watched. But from where? I sensed it coming from the drive thru. I whipped my head in its direction. Empty. It shifted to the dining area. No one was there. I grew lightheaded and panic began to surge through my system. A breeze swept past my ear, and I swear I could hear a soft almost imperceptible voice whisper, “Blair.”
I bolted to the office, slamming the door shut as quickly as I could. What was that? I paced around the office like a caged animal, anxiously waiting for something, anything to happen. After what felt like an eternity, it began to dissipate without incident. I sat there for a moment, contemplating if this was really the right career path for me.
Was every night like this? I was snapped back to reality by static emanating from my headset. I ripped it off until the noise stopped. A bumbling male voice crackled through it.
“Hey, uh, is this place open?” he slurred, obviously under the influence.
“Yeah. What do you want to order?”
I was beginning to lose my cool. Between all the strange occurrences and the inebriated customers, my patience was wearing thin.
“I’ll have a filet-o-fish meal.”
“Coming right up.”
I made my way back to the kitchen and began preparing his order.
“Who the hell comes to McDonald’s at one-thirty in the morning for a freaking filet-o-fish?” I grumbled, purposely dousing his sandwich in sauce.
I served the man, hoping to be rid of him as soon as possible.
“Thanks. Hey, is that a kid at the counter?”
I turned my head and sure enough, there he was. A mess of blonde tangles and deep blue eyes peered at me from the register. I sighed.
“Yeah, I’ll take care of him. Have a good night.”
A child. Unaccompanied in my restaurant. Just what I needed. I began to approach the counter when rule seven blared in my mind like a tornado siren. I froze mid-stride.
“Just ignore him, Blair. It’s almost two. You got this,” I reassured myself, starting my closing duties early.
That was easier said than done. The child began wailing, shrill high-pitched screams reverberating off the walls. He ran into the kitchen area, allowing me a full view of his tiny frame. The boy couldn’t have been older than six. His Pac-Man T-shirt looked well outdated, and he was filthy, as if he hadn’t showered in years. He began tugging on my shirt, begging for attention.
“Please help me, lady. I can’t find my mommy,” he cried, tears streaming down his rosy cheeks.
He was relentlessly pulling at my clothing. That was it. I’d reached my breaking point. If this child, monster, demon, whatever he was, planned on killing me, he could go ahead and put me out of my misery. I was done.
“Get out! Just screw off and leave me the hell alone!”
He immediately quit sniffling and straightened up as if I’d flipped a switch. Red tinged his striking pupils. Dread began sinking into my gut. A malicious grin blossomed across his lips.
“You made the right choice,” he growled as he headed toward the exit.
“Weirdo kid,” I mumbled, returning to cleaning.
I finished up and waited around for two to hit, praying for a quiet, uneventful end to my first nightmare closing shift. Of course, my prayers went unanswered. I had a mere three minutes until I was supposed to clock out when I spotted it. A dark red viscous liquid oozing from beneath the stove.
“Great. Awesome. Just what I needed.”
I filled up a mop bucket in the storage closet and began sopping up the mystery fluid. If it wasn’t blood, you could’ve fooled me. A persistent copper taste assaulted my tongue every time I opened my mouth. I gagged, forcing vomit back down my throat. The stuff just wouldn’t stop coming. On my third bucket-full of sloshing crimson, I finally started gaining an upper hand.
I mopped fervently as blisters erupted across my hands from the friction of the wooden handle. All the not-blood had been disposed of. I breathed a sigh of relief, careful to avoid splashing myself as I dumped the last of it down the drain. I’d done it.
“Take that, bitches! I win!” I cheered as if I’d just claimed first prize at the Indy 500.
My celebration was short-lived once I glanced down at my phone. 2:35 A.M. I bolted to the freezer, scooping up a couple bags of frozen patties. I slashed them open as quickly as I could, hoping in vain that I’d be able to make it out in time. I dumped their contents on the grill, then turned to toss the packaging in the trash. My heart plummeted into my gut.
A man stood before me. His black dead eyes matched that of the small mask encompassing the top half of his face. Wispy red hair sprouted from his floppy hat. A matching tattered black and white striped uniform framed his features, accompanied by a dingy red tie dotted with images of burgers. He grinned at me, jagged rotten teeth sending a chill undulating through my entire body. He spoke, a rough gravelly voice shattering the tense silence.
“Look, I know you’re new here, so I’ll spare you this time. But if I ever catch you in here this late again, I won’t think twice about increasing my calorie intake.”
His wicked smile exuded a malevolent hunger that still haunts my nightmares. A wet gray tongue wormed its way around his cracked withered lips. I felt like a mouse about to be devoured by a rattlesnake. He scowled at me.
“What are you still doing here? GET OUT!”
I suddenly regained my mobility. I tore through the dining area and burst into the cool night air. The Hamburglar’s soulless stare followed me into the vacant parking lot. I hurriedly locked him inside and raced to my car as a torrent of emotions flooded through me at once. Fear, anger, and confusion were all prominent on my desolate drive home. In the end, rage won out.
I wasn’t scheduled the next day, but I was determined to make that smug prick in charge at least give me some sort of explanation. I returned to the golden arches around four hours later running on zero sleep and a whole pot of Maxwell House. With fire in my eyes, I flung the door open and marched straight to Dave’s office.
“Oh, yeah, it was great. Had his car repossessed and everything. Oh, hey Blitz. Uh huh. Yep. I-”
“For the last freaking time, it's Blair! B-L-A-I-R. Not Blitzen, not Blaziken, not Blakely. BLAIR.”
Dave furrowed his brow, mouth slightly agape.
“Yeah Jim, I’ll have to get back to you.”
He ended the call and furiously pocketed his phone.
“Do you even know who that was? I mean, why the hell do you think you can just storm into my office like this-”
“No, you listen to me, Davey boy. I just had the worst night of my life. Every weird thing that could’ve happened, happened. And you don’t care one bit.”
“I see you’ve become acquainted with our more… troublesome clientele.”
“Yeah. I have. And I’m not dealing with that crap again. I quit,” I hissed, dramatically slapping my hat onto his polished cedarwood desk before turning to walk out the door.
“Wait! Twenty-five an hour.”
I stopped dead in my tracks. I reluctantly faced him. A sly toothy grin was stamped on his greasy face. I mulled it over. That was almost double what I was currently making. I could have my college paid for in no time.
“Twenty-seven and you’ve got a deal.”
“You drive a hard bargain, Mrs. Blair. I accept,” he said, extending his hand.
I begrudgingly shook it, cringing as his sweaty palm gripped mine.
“I’m glad you were able to see reason. Welcome to the night crew.”
