2023.06.08 01:37 Forever-Silver Current state of SaGa Re:Universe 6/7/2023
TLDR; Generous gacha, challenging content, F2P friendly (with context), (mostly) reasonable cash shop. The purpose of this post is to give some insight on the new player experience. Personally I hate searching "x-game new player experience" or "x-game beginner guide" just to find posts or guides from 5 years ago and I'm hoping this post, however helpful or not helpful it might be, shows up on a Google search.
SaGa RS subreddit:
/SaGa_ReUniverse (subreddit is kinda ded but the Discord is quite active)
Should I play? Is it a good time to start? Short answer is yes (not only for this, but anything in life really). If you're thinking about doing something, just do it and see if you like it. That being said, there are some time investments before seeing the payoff.
SaGa RS is a PVE turn-based teambuilder RPG based heavily on auto-afk farming. The game takes place 300 years after Romancing Saga 3 and characters from all games appear in this one. I've only played the Gameboy series and I skipped all the story dialogue so I'm not sure how good the story is but if I played the other games I would probably be more interested in the lore.
Basic new player experience - Pull/reroll for DPS carry
- Unlock stuff by spamming main story & starter quests while committing menus to muscle memory
- Do current event until walled, clear as much as you can before it ends
- Wait for good banners
Pros - Music by the legendary Kenji Ito
- Stamina is not an issue
- Hard content is challenging but not required for progression
- Extremely generous with login rewards, lots of free gems from permanent content to get your account up and running. Free gems from login/daily/weekly/event loop should be enough to spark 1 new style every 1-2 months if unlucky.
- Chasing dupes is not required and is discouraged
- Reroll time: 5-10 minutes per reroll after initial install (initial install is huge), no root required
Cons - Takes a considerable time investment initially to get situated. This varies so I'll share my experience below for details.
- Content is about 6 months behind JP but Global seems to be catching up. JP released Dec 2018, GL released Jun 2020 (1.5 year gap). There are a ton of character differences between JP and GL so while we generally know what the future holds for the game, there are some uncertainties. It seems to me that if the character wasn't too well received in JP that they try to buff it into at least the "usable" category. It seems that GL is in an era of weekly/bi-weekly double banners in an effort to catch up to JP.
- Community seems rather small for GL and it's a little hard to find info on the game unless you dive into discord/JP sites. Revenue wise, JP hard carries this game making like 10-20x GL.
- No background/split screen farming
About the gacha and currency: In general you are able to spark one character every 150 pulls (or 15 multi pulls). It costs 45,000 free gems (currency obtained by doing main story, events, login etc.) to spark and takes about 2 months to accrue solely from events/login. You can reduce this amount by using the paid currency. The basic non-event, non-limited gem pack costs $80 for 13,000 paid gems. There's also the usual monthly gem packs for $8/$15 that give you paid gems on purchase + free gems over the course of the month that are probably the most reasonable/efficient purchases.
Even if you spend on the game, you cannot skip the time investment on grinding your characters or main story (unless of course you "obtain" a starter account). Whichever way you might decide to begin on your journey, just know that majority of the time is spent afk farming.
Reroll Recommendation: General reroll recommendation during non-anniversary event is when there is a meta DPS on the banner that can carry you through the mandatory main story slog and (most of) the event. The current event is the 3 Year Anniversary and it is a huge one where you can pick up a ton of relevant characters. I could give more specific advice about keep or reroll but it would be better to ask in the RSRS discord/subreddit. If you somehow came across this post and it is still the June 2023 Anniversary, I would advise you to reroll for the following:
Pull until you get Rag Robin plus one DPS with free gems, reroll if you miss Character | Banner | Note |
Liam | 3rd Anniversary Festival Bottomless | ST DPS carry, relevant for a long time still |
Silver | 3rd Anniversary Festival Bottomless | ST DPS carry |
Rag Robin | 3rd Anniversary Festival Bottomless | Tank, Healer, Still Blade Phoenix inherit |
The Anniversary bottomless banners are so insane in this game. This banner also has relevant supports and farmers. As a new player (< 6 months) you should always prioritize these banners to "catch up". The problem is that they are more efficient (on your wallet) if you prep your gems by playing a few months before Anniversary hits. Anniversary months (June/Dec) also of course give more free gems on login so it's another incentive to start playing. If you're not convinced, I would recommend rerolling for either
Jo or
Saruin when their banners come to GL then collect gems casually until anniversary and unload on the bottomless banner.
My experience:
The first time I tried this game I was overwhelmed on what to do, who to pull for etc. so I didn't really put any effort into it and dropped it after a week. I picked the game back up about 30 days ago due to boredom and just committed to rerolling on the UDX banner for Silver then doing all the content I could do. To be honest it was incredibly boring for the first 1-200 hours because literally all of it was afk'ing one stage on repeat every day. Getting through the story was a slog too but the most recent QOL should alleviate that by a large margin. Still, there's nothing that can substitute running the game to stat cap your characters and it requires leaving your phone/emulator on 24/7.
After you get your main/general DPS carry up to speed the next grueling task is waiting for good support banners. Waiting was excruciating because I had a lot of gems and no banner to spend them on and I was losing interest but luckily the anniversary started in June. Supports are absolutely filthy in this game and they are required to do any sort of challenging content. Every team comp for general, non-specialized, non-series specific challenging content is basically 1 DPS and 4 supports with the basic strategy of making sure your team doesn't die then just grinding the boss down.
Was it worth? (Summary) - Hundreds of hours leaving the game running afk farming with the goal of experiencing "hard content" for a couple hours (seems the trade off is really bad)
- Maintenance loop going forward is gonna be trying to optimize teams to maximize rewards from weekly/bi-weekly/monthly permanent content as well as events
- Dopamine hits come from getting these content on farm or hitting on banners. Anniversary banner was nuts and I hit tons of relevant meta characters so it felt pretty good.
- Teambuilding isn't as varied as I originally thought. Speaking generally, you gravitate towards strong characters that can fulfill a lot of roles. In most cases these characters are the most recent release of the character, which isn't bad and is to be expected, but it seems a little hard to reach maintenance as a new player. Determining the bare minimum requirements to clear encounters is also difficult because majority of the content created for this game is geared towards veterans with wide rosters.
Thoughts on spending This game definitely feels like something you would spend on
after you've spent some time on the game. E.g., you're a brand new player, you're satisfied with your reroll and you buy an event pack (pretty good value but still costs $70-80) and pull more waifus & husbandos but still can't experience early end game or even mid game because you have to grind your stats out or you need another unit to complete your team comp and their banner isn't available for some time. Even then, maybe you could've used that pack money to buy a different game that you could enjoy immediately. Anyway, just something to be aware about as this worth is subjective.

2023.06.07 20:09 Billberg23 Anyone know anything about some British Construction workers in Warner Robins in 2003
To cut a long story short I was sitting outside some shops in Warner Robins in the summer of 2003.
Over the road there was a building going up and I recognized the accents of the builders to be Geordie or roughly North Eastern English accents.
Does anyone have any information?

2023.06.06 21:11 sweetsocialdeviant Any reviews on City Plaza apartments?
Hi All! I'm a recent college graduate moving to Atlanta and I'm in the middle of apartment hunting. Downtown locations go fast I've noticed and I've ran across an available unit at City Plaza (133 Trinity Ave SW, Atlanta, GA 30303). Reviews on all platforms have been mixed, I'm hoping to gain a better understanding of people's experience at this property.
Have you or anyone you know rented at this property? Thank you in advance!

2023.06.06 16:11 pilotzs Wrigley Field Venue Question
We are GA field tickets. How do you access the field from the entrances? Also, where are the bathrooms/concessions from the field level?
I broke my foot and am in a boot, so curious if I might need to bring a walking cane or something to get around, or whether it's pretty easy to access and walkable.
Also, any info on accessing transportation to/from downtown area to Wrigley is helpful. Thought about just taking the subway/train out on the Red Line.
Looking forward to the shows!!

2023.06.06 03:46 amoeba953 Rating cities in my general region
New Orleans, LA: 6/10
My birthplace. The city is teeming with culture and history that spans over 300 years. Most of the touristy parts of the city are pretty walkable, with added street cars. The French Quarter is full of tourists, but fun, and Uptown, and the Marigny is more laid back, truly something for everyone. The food is amazing and having Mardi Gras off is always a bonus. On the flip side, the crime. It’s never been good but since 2020 it’s been really fucking bad. Carjackings and homicide make the nightly news every day. The streets are also always buckled or full of potholes on account of the city being below sea level. Also the city sits in one of the most hurricane vulnerable areas in existence. Katrina displaced us for a year, and every time we’re in the cone for a storm, everyone that remembers Katrina has PTSD flashbacks.
Gulfport/Biloxi, MS: 7.5/10
This is the closest metro area to New Orleans on the gulf. A lot of people from NOLA have beach houses here, especially in Bay St. Louis and Pass Christian. It’s much more laid back than NOLA and everything here revolves around the water: Fishing, boating, sailing, seafood, etc. Biloxi also has the most casinos between Vegas and Atlantic City. Mardi Gras is a thing here too. The beaches on the mainland are alright, (free, parking everywhere). The water is kinda murky, but there are undeveloped barrier islands 10-ish miles offshore that you can get to by ferry or private boat (which most people here have) and the water there rivals Florida’s. Hurricanes are a problem here too. Katrina absolutely fucked this area up, like worse than New Orleans.
Mobile, AL: 4.5/10
Where I go to college. The city is a big port destination. The downtown area is reminiscent of New Orleans but not nearly as cool. They claim to be home to the oldest Mardi Gras Parade, but it’s much more low budget and less fun than NOLA’s. Local cuisine is good. Crime is pretty bad but could be worse. Outside of the downtown core is basic American suburban hell. Terrible traffic, 6 lane roads lined with strip malls, fast food, and storage facilities. The city is not walkable whatsoever. I got hit on my bike here. Pretty good beaches are an hour away in Gulf Shores with a shit ton of touristy things to do.
Jackson, MS 2/10
This city is basically the Detroit of the South. It’s basically New Orleans if you took everything away except crime and rap music. There’s nothing to do here. The city is economically crippled bc all the white flight gravitated investment to the suburbs, which are a world difference from the city itself. You always play Russian roulette when showering, washing dishes, or drinking tap water bc you never know if it’s contaminated. From 2010 to 2020 the city shrunk more than anywhere else in America with a population over 100k. Nothing redeemable about Jackson.
Atlanta, GA: 5/10
I don’t personally like Atlanta as a sports city that much being a Saints fan an everything, but there’s a shit ton of things to do here. Six flags, aquarium, coke world, Stone Mountain, sports games, you name it. The city does not deserve to be called southern though. Nothing about this city is southern. It’s full of northern liberals that know nothing about Georgia outside of their little bubble. There’s also some pretty rough ghettos on the south side of town too. Traffic is abysmal at best, and stuck for days in the snow on the interstate at the worst. It takes 2 hours to cross the city. Atlanta is close to the mountains though, which is pretty nice.
Nashville, TN: 7/10
I haven’t been to Nashville in a while but I can’t remember a bad trip any time I’ve visited. The downtown is pretty hip. If you like country music, this is Mecca for you. The Cumberland River runs right through the heart of the city, which I’ve rowed with my crew team. Nissan Stadium, where the Titans play, is right across the river from Broadway and is connected by a pedestrian bridge. Outside of the city there’s a lot of lakes and low mountains to explore, but it’s being ever encroached by suburban sprawl.
Baton Rouge, LA: 4/10
I lived in BTR for a year after Katrina. The only things to do here revolve around LSU. No disrespect to LSU tho, games in Tiger Stadium are electric. Joe Burrow is basically Jesus here. There’s a crime problem here but not the same level as NOLA. There’s also a lot of chemical plants around, being on the Mississippi River and all. Traffic is really fucking bad since there’s only one bridge crossing the river so it all gets bottlenecked at rush hour. The city is 90 minutes from NOLA if you get too bored, which you will eventually.
I might do more cities outside of the south, idk yet.
